Issues with a Vundo

I got WinFixered unfortunately, but I removed it from my system, more unfortunately however is that I think it may have embeded dll files into my login files, it may not have been WinFixer, but the dll files are definately there, and I've tried VundoFix, which didn't even locate it, the reason I know it is there is a program I have called WinPatrol is telling me that :

Scotty the Windows Watchdop is on patrol and has detected a new Internet Explorer Add-On has been installed on your system.

Do you approve the addition of this IE Helper?
Press YES if this Internet Explorer Add-On is allowed.

I've run several SpyWare/Adware/Virus scanners, and none of gotten it.

Hello :)

Rename HijackThis.exe to Scanner.exe by doing the following;
  • Navigate to here; C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis
  • Right-click on the HijackThis.exe
  • Choose from the pull-down menu; "Rename"
  • And now Rename HijackThis.exe to Scanner.exe
  • When you've renamed HijackThis, then open it..
  • Take a fresh HijackThis log (Do a system scan and save a log file)
  • Post the fresh HijackThis log to here.

Incidentally, the problem is becoming increasingly prevalent, I seem to be getting spammed with IE popups and I run FireFox, but I can't seem to fix the problem.

Hello :)

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

I scanned everything again in Safe Mode, and did the Vundo program, and it cleared everything aside from C:\windows\system32\awtrolm.dll, which is can't clear, and my WinPatrol is now reporting the original message that has plagued me for the past week, only with C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhfc instead of the old file.

(Incidentally, I did the reboot-clear three times, and it failed all three.)

Disable Winpatrol:

- Right Click the 'Scotty Dog' icon in the system tray
- Click Exit program
