Yellow Caution Triangle in task bar

I am running Windows XP SP2 and today noticed a yellow caution triangle that keeps popping up in the task bar. It goes away if I click on it or wait a minute. Below is a HijackThis log taken while the yellow triangle was present.
I feel like my computer has been running slower the last week or so, but I could be imagining things. Maybe this yellow caution triangle is benign, but I'd love some advice. I'm attaching an image showing the triangle in the taskbar, in case it means something to anyone.

Thanks!

hi JJK,

what happens when you toggle over the triangle, anything? are you getting popups or anything like that? smitfraud malware can put a icon by the clock but it displays popups about your computer being in some grave danger from something, of course its not in any danger, they want to sell you worthless software.
we can try this:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named: c:\rapport.txt

stop at this point and post a HijackThis log along with the contents of the c:\rapport.txt.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

shelf life
Hi shelf life, Thank you for your help. I apologize for not responding sooner, but I left for a trip soon after posting my initial query - perhaps not good timing on my part. Now I am happy to report that with no action on my part, the yellow triangle has ceased appearing. FWIW, hovering over the triangle showed nothing at all, and clicking on it made it disappear. I assume I have some printer driver or something whose warnings were badly coded, but it doesn't seem malicious. As long as nothing else seems to be going wrong on my computer, I will consider my computer healthy and move on. Thank you again. JJK
hi JJK, ok good. i think you are right. smitfraud produces lots of fake warnings. you surely would have gotten popups by now. false alarm. happy safe surfing out there. shelf life
