Windows XP Home. Click on " My Picures " in My Docs. menu. Screen fills with `my pics `thumbnails. Any attempt to open subfolders ie Spainhol, Norway Hol. etc, by clicking thereon, results in total freeze of screen,includind task bars. Have to resort to Task Manager to exit. Have carried out restore, reboot and various virus checks. No change Unusual activity : Downloaded new version of Nero Start Smart shortly prior to My Pic freeze. Can anyone guide me out in simple phase,please

Hello and welcome to WTT.

Let's try running the Windows System File Checker to make sure there are no corrupt files on your system:
Go to Start|Run, type sfc /scannow (with a space between sfc and /scannow), and press Enter. It may ask you for your Windows Installation CD, if it can't find the backup files on your system.

Thankyou for your interest. I took your advice but there does not appear to be any corruption - any other thoughts?

Go to Start|All Programs|Accessories|System Tools and run Disk Cleanup. After that is completed, run Disk Defragmenter.

Thank again, I followed your suggestion but to no avail. I then deleted the latest folder of pics. completely and the problem was solved. Thanks for your interest. Tony P

Glad you fixed your problem. Out of interest and learning could you double click on My Computer on your desktop>right click on C:/ Drive and tell us what free and used space you have on your HD?
