I hope someone can help me. I can't get rid of the full screen popups. My computer is running slower. And when I go to IE 7, click on tools, internet options, it will flicker for a just a second, but the tool bar won't stay on.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi LadyTLJ and welcome to the forums.

My name is Dave. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can sometimes take a while to research so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • NOTE:Before we start: Please be aware that removing Malware is a hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.
In light of this it would be wise for you to back up any files and folders that you don't want to lose before we start, if possible.

I'm not seeing anything right off in your HJT log. Suspecting it may be a Navipromo infection.

Let's try this.

Download and Save blacklight to your desktop.
F-Secure Blacklight: https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
Click > scan then > next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Don't choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first, because legit items can also be present there…
There must be also a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Well Blacklight didn't find anything…

Another issue has cropped up… my internet explorer 7 now will not open up.

When you say wont open up do you mean the program wont' run at all or pages will not open in IE?

Let's get a Kaspersky scan. If IE will run at all…let me know.

Using Internet Explorer, click on Kaspersky Online Scanner * Click 'Accept' in the window that pops up.
* You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click on the information bar and select Install ActiveX Control if so. This may happen more than once. That is OK. You also may get a warning from your Windows Firewall. You can tell it to unblock.
* The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
* Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click 'Next'.
* Now click on 'Scan Settings'
* In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database: 'Extended' (If available, otherwise 'Standard')
o Scan Options: 'Scan Archives' and 'Scan Mail Bases'
* Click 'OK'
* Now under 'Select a target to scan' select 'My Computer'
* The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete, it will display whether your system has been infected.
* Now click on the 'Save Report As…' button:
* Make sure it says Save as a text file - change it if not
* Save the file to your desktop.
Please post the Kaspersky report and a new HijackThis log.

NOTE: If you have problems running Kaspersky see the following:

I need you to temporarily change your IE settings.
In IE:Go to Tools > Internet Options > Click on the Security tab
Click on the Custom Level… button
Scroll down a little and under Download unsigned ActiveX controls select Prompt
OK your way out
Now try running Kaspersky again.
When you attempt to open IE7 what happens? Is there an error? Does it just hang? Please give as much detail as possible so we can try to figure out what's happening.

How long have you been running IE7?

In the meantime, please do the following:

We are going to use HJT to create a list of your currently installed programs.1. Open HijackThis and click on the Config… button in the "Other stuff" section (lower right hand corner).
2. Click on the Misc Tools button.
3. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager… button.
4. Click on the Save list… button.
5. Save the file uninstall_list.txt to a convinient location. This should open Notepad with the list.
6. Please Copy and Paste the list into your next reply.
I wanted to let you know that the problem with my IE7 has been solved and it seems as if my malware problem is also gone. My computer is running much faster, and IE opens up quickly. Thank you so much for all your help!
Since this issue appears to be resolved … this Topic has been closed. Glad we could be of assistance. If you're the topic starter, and need this topic reopened, please contact a staff member with the address of the thread. Everyone else please begin a New Topic.
