why can't this thing run in safe mode? Spybot does well in safemode. Adaware in normal mode is taking forever as whatever is infesting this pc, keeps interferring with the scan. Arghh!!!!

Welcome to our Forum,

I uninstalled Adaware 2007. I did not like it at all, so rolled back to Ad-Aware SE Personal. It is fine and with updated definitions daily works very well. Recommended to me by a staff member here on this forum.

Have you thought of installing AVG Antispyware as an alternative, a very good program and many recommendations for it throughout the forum community. http://filehippo.com/download_ewido/

I suggest you run your Antispyware manually with perhaps a different one from day to day.

Just following up on tallin's usual excellent advice…..Adaware 2007 will run fine in safe mode…so if you are having problems doing this it might be evidence that all is not well with your machine, and that you might have undesirable elements present.on it.

and posting an HijackThis log, describing the exact symptoms you are experiencing together with any error messages you are getting and a trained and experienced malware removal expert will analyse your log and be able to provide you with specific guidance and step by step instructions if necessary.
Sometimes the number of folks requesting assistance outnumbers the volunteer experts available, so if you can, try to be patient, although I know this can be tough.
They will get to your post as soon as they possibly can.

Ad-Aware 2007 has recently caused difficulty for many users and is not recommended as often in standard cleanup protocols as often as it used to be.

Hopefully Ad-Aware 2007 will go through some updates and reconfiguration and again become the useful program it once was.
