oh and the last process is creepy.exe because i know some things are set to recognize HJT and hide from it, i heard renaming the actual program helps sometimes.
hi AWESO,

look in add/remove programs panel for these two:

Viewpoint

newdot, or newdot domains

uinstall if found, reboot computer once and post a new hjt log.

i like to scan my computer every once in a while just to be safe

a good idea, but if you practise or avoid a few things you woudnt need to do it. see first link below to learn how to prevent problems in the first place.

shelf life
I deleted the VP manager and the VP media player, not sure if i was supposed to do both, but i figured it would be fine.

hi AWESO, ok looks good, dont see either one in the hjt log. newdot comes as a thrid party add-on with other software. same for viewpoint manager. from my website: KNOW WHAT YOU ARE INSTALLING: Watch what you install on your computer. Many programs come bundled with extra 3rd party software. You may be installing more than you think. This is especially true of shareware and freeware. Make sure you understand what it is you will be downloading and installing to your computer. Visit the software website, learn more about the program, Does the program you want come bundled with other "3rd party" programs? What do the 3rd party programs do? Will they deliver ads? Track your surfing habits? Before you download carefully read the "privacy policy", usually a tiny link way down at the bottom of the web page. Read the EULA agreement, you know, that paragraph of legal mumbo jumbo stuff nobody reads before the software installs? Third party extras are usually, but not always spelled out in the EULA. See what BearShare comes with? Not only is it ad supported, (delivers ads to your desktop) it also installs My Global Search and Zango which will provide more pop ups. 180solutions is a well known adware/spyware provider. BearShare happens to be a file-sharing application, but these "extras" can come in all kinds of free/shareware, they are hardly unique to file sharing software. Read first before the software installs to your computer. Dont just randomly click a link to install something you know nothing about. Do you enjoy popups, page redirects, annoying ads?? happy safe surfing shelf life
