Hello and welcome to WTT. :)

Please download HostsXpert from the link below.

http://www.funkytoad.com/download/hoster.zip
  • Unzip HostsXpert. to your desktop
  • Open up the HostsXpert program.
  • Make sure that the "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
  • Click back up Host files
  • then click Restore original host files
  • Close program when complete.
Warning: if you use a customized hosts file to block certain sites then this will overwrite all those entries as well and you will need to re enter them

=================================

Next, download ComboFix

Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop.

Close all browsers.
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply
  • Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.
=================================

Also, please download Navilog1 by IL-MAFIOSO:
http://perso.orange.fr/il.mafioso/Navifix/Navilog1.zip
  • Extract its contents to the desktop.
  • Double click on navilog1.exe to install it on your computer.
  • When the installation is complete, the tool will start automatically.
  • If it doesn't start automatically, please double click on Navilog1 shortcut on your desktop to run it.
  • Press E for English from the language Menu.
  • Type 1 in the next Menu to select Search and press Enter.
  • Wait for the Scan to finish (It may take a reasonable amount of time)
  • Press any key as requested .
  • A new document will be produced: fixnavi.txt.
  • Please copy/paste the contents of this report in your next reply.
The report is also saved in the root of the directory, "%SystemDrive%\fixnavi.txt". (usually C:\fixnavi.txt)

==================================

Reboot your computer and scan with HijackThis again and save the log.

==================================

Please post back the Combofix log, Fixnavi.txt and the fresh HijackThis log.
Seem to have problem with your first part of the instruction the web link came up as not available however seeing the Hostsxpert link I clicked on that and downloaded as instructed and have HostXpert V4.0 but theres no "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled nor exact matches to the next 2 instructions have I downloaded the correct software?
Yes, I believe you've downloaded the correct software if you're on this page where you'll see the following "features".

Create Backup
Restore MS Hosts
and
Make Hosts read-only/writable toggle
ok , ignore post above - it eems that despite he fact its not quite the version I thought it was that I have done what you wanted.
here are the logs as requested - there is also a Combi fix quarantined files log as well !

Hi,

Glad to hear that the popups are gone now. Well done. Logs are clean. :thumbup:

Please remove/delete all the tools I asked you to download. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there otherwise just delete them.

Also delete the following folders:

C:\QooBox
C:\Combofix

and empty the recycle bin.

Create a new System Restore point to prevent reinfection from old restore points.

Go to Start>Run and type sysdm.cpl. Press Enter
  • Select the System Restore Tab
  • Place a check in "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • Click Apply
  • next, uncheck the same checkbox.
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK
You can also find instructions on how to disable and re enable system restore here:
