I can't seem to block these full sized pages that pop up all the time. One is Wild Girls and there are many others. I copied my log and hope someone can tell me what to fix to get rid of them. The system is slower than ti should be also. Thanks for your helpLogfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Welcome to the forum. You have a few things going on that we need to address.

Go into your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the Alexa Toolbar if it will let you , let me know if it did or did not.


Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O3 - Toolbar: Alexa - {3CEFF6CD-6F08-4e4d-BCCD-FF7415288C3B} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHDOCVW.DLL
O8 - Extra context menu item: Mail to a Friend… - http://client.alexa.com/holiday/script/actions/mailto.htm

If you know of this one to be something you use and is safe than leave it otherwise fix it also.

Ken, thank you for your help. I hope this is the correct way to respond to your email. I was not able to even find the Alexa toolbar anywhere so I just deleted as you said in the Hijack This page. I di another scan and I can post it if that is what you would like me to do. I have another weird thing that happens when I go into the companies website for hosting my website I can not see the background colors of my page. I can see it when igo to work but not on my laptop. Have you any idea what might be causing that. The customer service at Storesonline where I have all the data thinks that it is a virus or something inmy system. Any ideas? Thanks os much.

There is no email involved here, you just reply to this topic in this thread by clicking on the Add Reply button and type in your message.

I need you to rename HJT to Check.exe like I posted and yes, post a new log please.

No need to quote me, just follow the instructions I have given and reply with a new HJT log renamed to Check.exe

This is where it is and this is how you can rename it. The reason for renaming it is because what you are describing could be an infection that is written to hide from Hijackthis so by renaming the program if the infection is present it will show on your log.

C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe

Right click on your Start Button, then click on Explore then click on your C: drive, then click on Program Files , then click on the Hijackthis folder to open it, then Right click on the HJT icon ( it looks like a little stick of red dynamite ) and click on Rename and type in Check.exe
Then close it out,
  • Open HJT Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Edit> Select All…..Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread.
  • Please use [external image: Posted Image]and not [external image: Posted Image]
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

This is the new scan after changing to check.exe
It seems like every time I log on to Mozilla Firefox a credit companys' ad pops up and takes over the page I already have on Mozilla. It drives me crazy.

I am still not looking at anything real bad on your log.

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

I need you to download and install the Trial of AVG Anti Spyware, follow the instructions carefully , I need to see the log when your done.


It's extremely important that you follow these instructions to either Remove or Quarantine what it finds and save the report for me to see, it shows what and what not was removed along with an extensive report that may lead to other infections that are not showing on your HJT log. Without me seeing the report my hands are tied.


Download and install the 30 day trial of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 to your desktop. It's very important that I see the report so make sure you follow the instructions and save the log.
  • Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
  • Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
  • Under Reports
  • Select Automatically generate report after every scan
  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 <– Do not run the scan yet.
Boot your computer into Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the Enter on your Keyboard

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:
  • Launch AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
  • AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  • Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
  • Next select the Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
  • make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
Reboot normally

I need you to post the AVG Anti Spyware log and a New HJT log please.

Good Morning Kelia64 :D Are you unable to run the AVG scan? If your having problems running it yourself you may want to try to get a friend to help you that knows there way around windows a little. I would really like to help you clean up your system. Ken

I tried to download AVG to up grade the one I am using and it didn't work I will try again right now. I haven't been home until now so I'll see what happens. Thanks for your continued attempt to help me.

You need to sit back and relax and read exactly what I post in this forum, you have AVG Anti Virus installed :thumbup: , if you reread my post I am not asking you to update this program , but I am asking you to download and install a trial version of a completely different program by the same company–> AVG Anti Spyware

Your report says NO ACTION TAKEN, you should have set it to remove what it found , and that does not look like the entire report.

But it did give me a clue to what may be going on.

Run this quick scan.

Please download SmitfraudFix
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
