Yes I got the VPP virus and was able to delete everything but the flashing shield in the taskbar. I located that the virus was embedded in the explorer.exe file. To rid my taskbar of the virus I deleated the current elplorer.exe file and replaced it with an unaffected Explorer.exe file. It appears to have fixed that flashing shield and pop up, and I have had no other problems
