Hi dodgemagnum5.2,

I'm seeing a few "scraps" of some malware in your combo log. Let's run an online virus scan to see what is found (see below).

As far as wanting to help there is always a need for more qualified help.
There is a classroom here at Tom Coyote.

http://forums.tomcoyote.org/Tom_Coyote_Classroom_t80368.html

There is also Malware Removal University. Their primary purpose is teaching. They also help on logs and such but teaching is their focus.

http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=233

Note 2 schools work cooperatively and many of the teachers are active in both forums and several others.
You could join either or both if you like. Both are good.

Using Internet Explorer, click on Kaspersky Online Scanner * You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click 'Yes'.
* The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
* Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click 'Next'.
* Now click on 'Scan Settings'
* In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database: 'Extended' (If available, otherwise 'Standard')
o Scan Options: 'Scan Archives' and 'Scan Mail Bases'
* Click 'OK'
* Now under 'Select a target to scan' select 'My Computer'
* The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete, it will display whether your system has been infected.
* Now click on the 'Save as Text' button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Please post the Kaspersky report and a new HijackThis log.

ill post back in a while and let you know how good it runs now.
the machine runs good now…….wow…….no more freezing during IE and messagner use………net speed has increased too. A BIG THANK YOU for all you have done and I am gonna go to those links u sent me to learn more about spyware and malware.
Glad to hear things are running better. Good luck in your studies and I look forward to seeing you on the "front lines" someday.

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore. On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
You should also have a good firewall. Here are 2 free ones available for personal use:and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use):It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit
  • Microsoft Windows Update
monthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scannersweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klein: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Regards,
Dave
