Please tell me how this looks/if I'm clean now. Problem seemed to start after visiting the Myspace page of someone I don't know... Firefox browser froze up (couldn't close the window), with a popup page advertising WinAntiSpyware2000. Any mouse clicks just seemed to be encouraging an unwanted download of this stuff. Ran CrapCleaner, but leaving internet connected, so Temporary Internet files not cleaned. Then ran full scan via Trojan Hunter, and during this, McAfee found 3 or 4 trojans (I didn't note their names, but all looked associated with Temp files), which I "removed" rather than "quarantining". Trojan Hunter found no other trojans. Rebooted, and ran CCleaner again with internet disconnected (files removed included ComPlusMetaDataMsCorhost, ComPlusMetaDataMsCorhost.2, and Unwise executables), including CCleaner Issues, which got some ActiveX stuff. Ran Spybot (nothing), and ran a partial McAfee virus scan, but didn't let it finish (nothing thus far). Rebooted before eliciting this Hijack This log. So far browser working OK but noticed what might be some suspicious entries in the HJT log, so thanks for any comments/advice.
I *should* be up to date on Windows updates (done automatically); don't know about MSOffice; the only thing that might be out of date is Internet Explorer, as I hate it, never use it as a browser and may have rejected some updates or tried to uninstall some portions of it (but read recently that it is integral to Windows and may be a vulnerability point regardless).
+/- Relevant: Uninstalled an unwanted Yahoo toolbar the other day, but it continues to appear. Also, should I remove my husband's non-password protected user account on this computer to avoid that vulnerability? he never uses this computer. And I would love to get rid of Windows Messenger if that's not a problem.
