Hi :wavey:
I'm having freezing problems with my relatively new laptop...
Every now and again, it just randomly freezes and I have to manually shut off the power and then turn it back on again =(
(I can't open Windows Task Manager or anything, it's completely frozen).
It seems to only happen when I'm connected to the internet, and more often than not, when I'm using Windows Live Messenger or Windows Media Player 11 (if that means anything)...
I've run all my antivirus/antispyware scanners (AVG Free, Spybot, Windows Defender) but they don't detect anything! =(
My laptop specs are Core 2 Duo 1.66Ghz, 1GB RAM etc... so it's not just stalling...
I'm running Windows MCE 2002 SP2...
Please help!
Below is my HJK log:

Howdy mtm07, Given what your first statement said I didn't have to look far for what is likely the issue there - too much protective software active and competing. Windows Defender, WinPatrol, SpywareGuard overlapping protective functions - each alone capable of blocks and slowdowns in operations. Then both AVG AntiVirus and Zone Alarm. Some folks use ZA's firewall along with another AV, but here it looks like the ZA AV software as well - you do not want to have two of these on one system. So best you choose one from the first group and one from the second and uninstall the others, being sure to disable all before uninstalling to avoid corrupted uninstalls here as well. Make sure to reboot in between uninstalls as well to complete each thoroughly. I see you also have startups disabled through msconfig, so if any of these are additional extra protective softwares we didn't see in this log you need to re-enable those startups, reboot then uninstall them as well. Because of the slowness specific software with Messenger and Media Player you may want to reconsider keeping that Free Download Manager software showing here as well. I don't use it personally, but would assume it would want to establish it's own net contacts each time any other messenger/media software is started. But no infection showing here.
