My computer freezes/locks up more and more often over the past day and a halfand must do a hard boot (hold the power button until it powers off) and restart it to fix the problem. I currently use Norton System Works 2004 for virus protection and have used Spybot and Ad-aware (rebooted since using all). Last night as a last resort I shut down the system and let it sit overnight… It has not frozen up… yet.
Below I've attached today's HJT log… Can someone please help? Thanks for any and all help in advance.

Hello and Welcome to the Forum.

Please delete any HijackThis Folders and Files you have now.Use Add/Remove Programs and remove HijackThis. What you have now is out dated.

you can get a complete installer that installs HijackThis to C:\Program Files\HijackThis, making an entry in the start menu and also providing a desktop shortcut from http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HJTsetup.exe.

Click on the link and select Save, save it to your desktop and double click HJTsetup.exe.

Open HijackThis and select: Do a system scan and save a log file.

When the scan is finished, Click Edit> Select All> Edit> Copy> and paste its contents here please use the [Add Reply] button below.

Please use the [external image: Posted Image] Button below to reply.
I should mention that since this began I have upgraded/installed Norton Internet Security 2007… I have been unable to run a full system scan due to the freezes. Thanks, here is the new log:

With AVG Anti-Spyware, if you click on the Infections icon, then it will show you all the items in Quarrantine and you can remove them that way. Just click Select All (if all of the items in quarrantine need removing) then Remove Finally

I only see one leftover.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {77701e16-9bfe-4b63-a5b4-7bd156758a37} - (no file)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

How's it running?
Seems great. :D Doesn't freeze up so far (it's been about 15+ minutes), smoother and back up to normal speed. It almost always locked on the screen saver, and that's running smooth. Final question; can/should I remove AVG since it's a 30 day trial and resume using Norton 2007 (just take it out through add/remove programs, right)? Thanks for all the help!!! :wavey: :D

just take it out through add/remove programs, right)?

Yes.

You can remove any programs I had you install

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D
