Hello and welcome to the forums

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Next:

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you, combofix.txt. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
Thanks for the reply LDT. Here are my Logs:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Ok, I did everything you stated, here's the new log. The 015 files you asked me to delete were no longer there. I just ran some Windows updates today, so perhaps that accounts for it. WRT how my computer is behaving, it just tends to lag far more than it should when browsing, and my Memory Usage in the Task Manager seems to be too high relative to the applications Im running. I also get that random CPU spiking in the task manager. Also, until I found a fix today, I was not able to access any of the updates from the Microsoft Windows Update website. I don't get any blatant pop-ups or spam, though.

It's an eBay bidding tool that I purchased. I seriously doubt that's my problem, and although I use it alot, I still have the same problems when its not running.
Looks like it's reinstall the operating system time once again. Sigh, suckkkkkkkkks. I was also considering upgrading my RAM, which is currently at 256 MBs, but my comp ran lightning quick in the past off clean installs, so I don't see why the RAM should be holding me back now.

Looks like it's reinstall the operating system time once again. Sigh, suckkkkkkkkks. I was also considering upgrading my RAM, which is currently at 256 MBs, but my comp ran lightning quick in the past off clean installs, so I don't see why the RAM should be holding me back now.

New programs like IE7 and your anti-virus database updates take more resources. I would add memory before doing anything else. I'd suggest up to 1 gig if possible. I started with 512 and now I'm at 1.5 gig (3 512 sticks). That makes a very big difference. Another difference could be the hard drive speed and free space.
And the Hits just Keep on Cominnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. So I decide Im going to take your advice since more RAM coudnt hurt and I'd been thinking about doing that anyway. But it's been a while and I don't remember what kind of RAM I have and I don't remember my motherboard make and model. So I shut down my computer, which La di da, actually seems to be running a bit faster today. I take my RAM card out of the slot, PC2800, ok that's pretty old school but it should be cheap. I put it back in the slot, turn that mother back on, but gahhhhhhhhh. It powers up but nothing comes on the screen, no boot up. AND, I smell burning plastic. That can't be good. I shut down, try putting RAM in different slot, nothing, I try putting it back in same slot more securely, nothing. Did I mention that I tried reinstalling Windows 2 days ago but my CD-R wouldnt read the Windows disk for some reason so I bought a new burner? Wow, what an enormous waste of time this has been. :rant2:   Life is hilariously annoying sometimes. Ummm, anyway, Im probably just going to be buying another computer unless anyone has some better suggestions.
Make sure you unplug the power cord. Get a can of compressed air and blow the memory slots out. Make sure nothing is loose and all fans are running.
