ok so no one can help me? does anyone have an updated version of hijackthis???cuz my windows vista wont allow it or something i get errors, i tired 1.9 and a 2. something..i have that winsock, new.net web enhanser stuff but can't get rid of it..and can't open hijack to delete it..please help

Well, I reckon a real solid reason delays occur is that there truly are a limited amount of folks who can assist, and what seems like an unlimited number of new requests. Plus having opened two threads usually means whoever responds is going to have to do an extra step or two cleaning that up.


HiajckThis 1.99.1 really should work with your Vista, so perhaps it is a matter of infection blocking that. Try renaming the file to looker.com and clicking to run it that way.


If no success let's see about a different file type. Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here. Maybe that'll give us something to work with.

I don't know about any infection issues like you referred to earlier yet ("have that winsock, new.net web enhanser stuff"). I am reading you difficulties using Vista, see some policy tweaks added here making changes to some Vista settings, but don't see the infection you mention. Is this a Vista upgrade, and if so, upgraded from what OS?
