:unsure: I suspect I have some malware because just 3 days ago xp started booting up with windows installer trying to install something (with my Roxio Easy 6.0) every time I boot up. The problem is that I have to stop the process in the task manager every time windows starts up. What's more is that this problem began at the same time my TEAC D-244E disappeared from My Computer and the device manager reports that the drivers fail to load. I tried reinstalling that and it didn't help...still the same yellow icon and error message. So basically Roxio 6 won't fix itself because it keeps searching for the Roxio cd in the cd-rom that doesn't exist.
What's more is that IE 6 seems to be hitching a lot in the past few days...whenever I download something it takes me several seconds and tries to click on "save" or "run" before my selection actually registers and also when I type an address in the address bar upon startup...it takes several seconds to acknowledge the enter button (wasn't this laggy before).
I have Lavasoft Ad-Aware and just recently installed McAfee but they havent fixed my issues although they've found suspicious files periodically.
As a sidenote, 3 days ago I downloaded Bearshare and alarms went off in McAfee...I have since then uninstalled and deleted Bearshare.

Welcome to Tom Coyote. The log does show some unwanted bot infection activity that will need our attention. Also that old WMF vulnerability patch still installed in some fashion. Did you do any steps after MS upgrades made the needed corrections to remove that?


Let's take one additional look and then get to repairs. Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here.
