:rant2: I have a HP DV8000 laptop with 1gb ram, dual HD's and HP PSC 1350 AOL printer. The past couple weeks my programs have slowing started stopped opening when I try to open them. I have to right click, then click on open. Now some of them have completely stopped opening. I have scanned several times for spyware and virus's and it the computer is clean. I even went to Symantec's site and ran their security and virus checkers and nothing. I have a very old game I play every morning (my brain bumper) and has never caused any problems. Now when I try to open it I get an error message "NTVDM.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close", then another error pops up "The instruction at 0x10001a0 reference memory at 0x10001a0. The memory could not be read." Sometimes my mouse will just stop responding, then start again. I have adjusted my mouse click speed, no help. I have done PCpitstop full test and it didn't show anything except some outdated drivers. I updated them, but no help. I ran Registry Mechanic and PC Optimize, again no help. I ran all the diagnostic test on HP's site and again nothing is showing up. This all started when my printer quit printing. I updated the drivers from HP, changed out the cable and even put another printer on and it won't print either. Every day my computer seems to die a little more than the day before and I'm beginning to lose it. Yesterday my Outlook Express started freezing when I close it. I have to use the Task manager to end the program and today it is showing it opening twice. I have very carefully opened it several times to make sure I'm not double clicking from the task bar and it still is sowing it is opened twice. I'm praying and crossing my fingers (when I'm not using them) that you super brains can figure out what is causing the problems. My only thoughts are maybe some of Windows Updates are buggy. Here is my hijack log and I also have done the startup list if needed. Thanks Trisha

I forgot to send my log. A new problem started today. My mouse is jumping and inserting or removing some letters as I type. I'm having to find the cursor and make corrections. Notice my earlier post how some of the words are missing . I have had to re,-type this 3 times because the message dis-appears. Here is my log Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 1:20:42 PM, on 6/21/2007 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16473) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\ipoint.exe C:\Program Files\hpq\HP Wireless Assistant\HP Wireless Assistant.exe C:\Program Files\SPAMfighter\SFAgent.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\MOM.EXE C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\ccc.exe C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Shared\hpqwmi.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\LightScribe\LSSrvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\HPZipm12.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\PROGRA~1\VCOM\SYSTEM~1\MXTask.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiapsrv.exe C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Shared\hpqwmiex.exe C:\PROGRA~1\VCOM\SYSTEM~1\mxtask.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllhost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic Shared\Sonic Central\Main\Mediahub.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Pat.PATRICIA\Desktop\Utilities\Webroot\Washer\wwDisp.exe C:\PROGRA~1\MOZILL~1\FIREFOX.EXE C:\Program Files\FastStone Screen Capture\FSCapture.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\notepad.exe C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
