I posted this in the Other computer problems section earlier today…

This one won't even let me run my Hijack this program!! It shuts it down when I open it. It closes down my windows explorer when I click the link on this website to the Hijack this log and Malware removal link??? It also will not let me run my Xoftspy program. I did download Spybot, it found some things that I deleted. My son said he got it yesterday through windows messenger. It installed a small icon on my desktop that says wr-1 under it, and it has 3 little cubes inside the icon that have F M C on them. What am I going to be able to do, please let me know, thanks!!!!

I was finally able to rum my XoftspySE program, it found a bunch of stuff, but the icon on my desktop is still there. I was also finally able to run my Hijack This and here is the result, let me know, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi Otis99, looks like spybot cleaned it up. that icon on the desktop is a installer for malware. you should just be able to delete it. scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked. O4 - Startup: csrss.lnk = ? and this unless you added it to your trusted zone: O15 - Trusted Zone: *.line6.net ——————————- shelf life
So you want me to use the Task Manager to shut down csrss.exe? When I open the Task Manager and click on the process tab, that is the only thing that is even close to the csrss.Ink=?. It is also saying the user name is the SYSTEM. Do I really want to delete this, will it mess my computer up? Thanks for your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi Otis99, have you had malware before? that 04 points to items that run at start up. we wouldnt really be deleting the .exe itself, just the reference for it to run at startup look here: C:\Documents and Settings\your logon name here\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and you should see the reference to csrss.exe sometimes malware, virus etc can launch window components for there own use. probably just a leftover reference in the hjt log had you still had the malware it would probably show like this in hjt: C:\WINDOWS\system32\xyz trojan\csrss.exe shelf life
hi Otis99, yes you can: scan with HJT, put a checkmark beside the items below, close all windows and click fix checked. O4 - Startup: csrss.lnk = ? shelf life
