You have to install it and check for updates in normal windows , if the safemode thing is a problem just run the scan in normal windows.
Hello Ken545 – Where would I find the log? It didnt pop up after I did the scan, but it deleted a lot of items… ~SL
Did you have it set to Remove or Quarantine?? If you Quarantined it all you may be able to copy and paste it from there. If not, open AVG and go to Reports and it should be in there ( if you saved it ).
I have it the way you told me to set it up… generate report after scan, I just redid a scan and no report was created. So… I took a screen shot, but I cant paste it here… if I can, I'm not sure how. I guess I can type it up?? What a pain in the butt! I think there is something still lingering… it says MW (I assume, malaware) and it is an executable file. Hmm… C:\windows\system32\qifgfkky.exe Hijacker.Small.mw (High Risk) The rest seem like regular tracking cookies from surfing the web. Question: With the Vundo and this other hijacker… is my data compromised? Meaning anything I type (Passwords, access codes) is sent over to whomever is collecting it? Should I change all my passwords once my computer has the all clear? ~SL
SL,

You have got to understand that I am sitting on a computer most likely 1000s of miles away from you and not sitting down in front of your computer. The only way I can effectively help you is for me to see those reports so I can see whats going on. We seem to be going round and round and getting nowwhere the past few posts.

Any malware is a threat to your computer and yes I would change all your passwords after we are done.

Open AVG Anti Spyware and go to the Quarantine folder and uninstall anything thats in there.

C:\windows\system32\qifgfkky.exe <– this may be leftover from Vundo.

Run it through Killbox and have it set as single file.

Post a new HJT log as sometimes when we remove one bad file it will create another.

How is your system running now??
I ran the leftover thru killbox… and then HJT. Well, is there another spyware program I can use – for some reason there is no log being created in the AVG spyware thing… even after a scan – at least nothing that I can copy and paste and I have it set up the way you asked… do you have to have a full version in order for it to create report??

Here is log file.

Computer seems like it's running fine – no pop ups anymore… not even one. I have however been getting weird emails…"SUMMER SALE: savings up to 85% off " from myself… so I have a feeling they are using my email address to spam people?? I hoover over the pictures that were blocked from outlook and the following websites appear: tagclicks.hk awaybox.hk duringburn.hk redity.hk staroil.hk nineshall.hk (privacy policy) weeksign.hk (to unsubscribe) – yeah right… main site seems to be – www.distantleg.hk/images/index.htm Interesting… Also any recommendations on having my computer run faster, start-up wise? I'm sure the computer loads up things I don't use or need? or can just open up when I decide to use them… ~SL
They just came out with a new version of AVG Anti Spyware so go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall the older version, then download and install this one. I am including a nice tutorial at the bottom of the page , I suggest you read it before you download , install and run it so that you will have it set correctly and for me to see the log. This new version fixed a bug that would not let it run in Safemode and I believe makes it easier to save the log.

Make sure you follow these instructions correctly to Remove or Quarantine what it finds and also to save the report, without me seeing the report my hands are tied.
Download and install the 30 day trial of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 to your desktop. It's very important that I see the report so make sure you follow the instructions and save the log.
  • Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
  • Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
  • Under Reports
  • Select Automatically generate report after every scan
  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 <– Do not run the scan yet.
Boot your computer into Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
  • This will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
  • Then press the Enter on your Keyboard
Tutorial if you need it How to boot into Safemode

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:
  • Launch AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
  • AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
  • Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
  • Next select the Reports icon at the top.
  • Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system <–Don't forget this
  • make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important, I need to see that log.
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
