Internet Slows Or Stops Responding When Entering Passwords

Can someone please help me. Something is wrong when I go on the internet with my computer. Whenever I connect onto the net, it takes a long time to download my home page. Also I have noticed that the internet slows down significantly when I am entering in passwords for email accounts etc and becomes unresponsive. I have run Avast virus protection and picked up several Win32 agents which have now been deleted. Would appreciate any help to get my computer up and running again properly.
