It takes forever to get a page to come up on the internet. I use AVG free version which detected a Trojan Z that it said it couldn't quarantine. Found another program called TDS-3 and it removed the virus. AVG shows no viruses now. I have run Ad Aware, Spybot, Spyware Doctor, and CCleaner. According to all those programs, the computer is clean, nothing coming up. Here is my hijack log now, please help.. .thank you!!!

Hi Jim, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. Good job removing the trojan, just to be sure when you are finished with my instructions, run TDS-3 one more time to make sure nothing is left. What I am going to remove is mostly adware and it will slow you down. Please follow the instructions in the order they are posted. Thanks.

1) You are running Incredimail, hugh resource waster…here is what Fred Langa has to say about it: http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2002/2002-10-10.htm#6

2) Spyware Doctor may block our fix, I suggest you turn it off until you finish with HJT.

3) HijackThis needs a folder to store HJT.exe, Logs and backups for safety. Make a new folder called HJT and move the HJT.exe and the log on the Desktop into that folder. We will soon have backups in there.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

Once the log is posted, please run TDS-3 again and allow it to remove anything it should locate.

Thanks…pskelley

PURGE SYSTEM RESTORE
When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instruction:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen…src=sec_doc_nam
pskelly, thanks so much for your assistance! I followed your instructions and below is the hjt logfile. It's still running slow. Would any of these items that we are eliminating account for lost packets when doing a ping from the command prompt? If not, I think my router may be going bad as well. Hi again Jim,

pskelly, thanks so much for your assistance! I followed your instructions and below is the hjt logfile. It's still running slow. Would any of these items that we are eliminating account for lost packets when doing a ping from the command prompt? If not, I think my router may be going bad as well.

No Jim, all we removed was adware IE plugins (complements of Yahoo, makes you wonder why they are in bed with adware providers like that, called usually RedSwoosh. ) The other item we removed was A Downloaded Program File and I gave you information about it in the link near the item. Nothing there that would create the situation you asked about. Keep in mind, when properly positioned HJT makes backups and items can be returned in a few clicks if you ever want that junk back. :P

I am editing in the fact the you may remove any 016 (DPF) that you no longer use or do not know what is. If you remove something in error it would be returned when you next visit the site. Just the 016 items.

Your log is displaying no malware, I am going to suggest you take a look at what you have running, these links will help you discern what is onboard that does not need to run at startup and can be turned off in msconfig, or perhaps removed from your computer. Your call…just do not turn off anything needed by Microsoft to run the computer or any of your security items, if you have doubt, leave the item alone.

Other than to suggest a good maintenance and cleaning, looking at the possibility of installing more RAM if that is an option, are things you may try. A google search for "ways to speed up WindowsXp" will also return info and tweeks.

Since your logfile is clear of malware, Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
