NOTE: I dutifully followed all of the instructions entitled 'Self Help'>'Before posting a HijackThis log' prior to posting this log.
I have no subscriptions to Symantec or any other 'pay-up-front' anti-virus programs, however I have been using the free single-user Home version of Avast! I've also installed Windows Registry Repair pro by 3B Software and have in the past used it to expunge invalid registry items. Please let me know if these programs are prohibitive to any troubleshooting advice I might receive as a consequence of this log.
I am hopeful to receive a meaningful response. If the respondant could assess the overall health of my computer from the two below-posted logfiles and tell me which line-items are non-essential and therefore disposable, keeping in mind that I am not interested in retaining anything that would fall under the category called 'spyware' or 'adware'. Also I am open to advice or tips on ways I might make further refinements. I want simply to streamline my computers functionality as much as possible. My system is an HP Pavilion which came with a preloaded version of Windows XP (2002 version). It had ALOT of promotional junk on it (courtesy of BestBuy) when I first bought it. I believe I've deleted or uninstalled most of it. Since then I've upgraded my version of Windows to include Service Pack 2 and the latest available version of IE, along with the reqisite security upgrades from Microsoft.
Some other technical stats: AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 2.13 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM.
What do I do with my computer? I mainly run a couple of data-hungry programs like Adobe's Illustrator and Photoshop and RIP Programs like Onyx Postershop and Daylight RIP 2006. I don't play alot of media like music or movies but I'd like a funtional ability to do so. I also need a functional ability to go online. While I sometimes use Skype and GoToMyPC, I don't go in for those IM services like Windows Messenger.
In advance, Thank You to whomever wishes to help me. It is extremely important to me as I use this computer to run my fledgeling small business.
