Hi,

My daughter's PC has suddenly died with a blue screen of death. This has happened severla times in succession.

She was last on MySpace !!!!

I've heard of viruses being on MySpace, is this true?

I've been able to get the PC working as long as she's not on the Internet (at the moment).

Can anyone see a problem with the attached LOG?

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Recycler] jpubtv.exe

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Delete this File if listed:
jpubtv.exe


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thanks for you reply, but the PC has now died. We had several blue screen which stopped us running any program, even in safe mode. Check disk automatically ran and then it stopped and wont pick up the C drive anymore. I'm trying to recover this at the moment, but can't get the PC to recognise the USB keyboard when booting in DOS :rant2: I'll come back if I ever get it running again.
