I've installed and ran McAfee SecurityCenter, Spybot, and Adware(lavasoft) and am still getting random, full-page pop-ups while on-line. Any ideas? Does this mean you were surfing previously without any anti-virus/firewall installed? If so, how long were you surfing like this for?

You are running HJT from an unsafe location. An easy way to correct this is to do the following:

Download a copy of HJTsetup.exe from one of these locations and save it to your Desktop:Location one.
Location two.
Location three.
  • Double click HJTsetup.exe to begin installation.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box uncheck the box to the left of "Launch Hijackthis" and then click Finish
I'll need a fresh HJT log - you cut the top off of the first one, so be careful to post all of this one.

Download FindAWF by noahdfear from here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click FindAWF.exe and follow the instructions, brief though they are.
  • When the tool has finished scanning, the results will be saved as awf.txt on your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste them into your next reply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Download F-Secure's BlackLight from here and save it to your Desktop.
2) Log off from the internet and disconnect your modem cable.
3) Go to Start > Run, copy and paste the following into the text box and hit OK:
"%userprofile%\desktop\fsbl.exe" /expert
The F-Secure Blacklight Beta window should open.
  • Accept the agreement and click Next >.
  • Click the Scan button to begin.
  • Leave the PC idle while the scan takes place.
  • When it has completed, click the Close button.
  • A text file, fsbl-date/time, will be saved onto your Desktop - copy and paste this into your next reply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Run HJT and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager...
  • Click Save list... and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your next reply.

Death to the salad eaters!
