Hi, I am encountering numerous pop-up such as winfixer, hoowah and kanoodle among others. I have updated and ran Spybot and AVG but I still get pop-ups. Thank you in advance, my log is posted below.

Download System Security Suite v1.04 here
Tutorial here.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop. We may need it later.

Reboot in safe mode. Close all Browser and Program Windows.
Have HijackThis fix the following. Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: IRiras Class - {95C60327-8E17-44D6-98EB-7EB70CC606DD} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\irasnexs.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [irassync] C:\WINDOWS\system32\irasyncd.exe

You may need to set you computer to show hidden files. Click here for Instructions.
Then click start>my computer>local disk
(then follow the path) or Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

If you were unable to find any of the files then please follow these additional instructions:
Run Pocket Killbox, and click the radio button that says Delete a file on reboot.
Paste the full path of file to delete box and click the red circle with a white cross in it.
The program will ask you if you want to reboot answer Yes let the system reboot.
Here are Instructions for deleting multiple files with Pocket Killbox. If you were not able to find them.

Then Run 3S under “Items To Clear” tab place a checkmark in all of them but the last.
Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Also please describe how your computer behaves now.
I am no longer getting pop-ups and my computer seems to be back to normal after I followed your instructions. However, when I ran 3S I received the following error:

Access violation at address 0047616B in module 'sss.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

when I ran 3S I received the following error:

Access violation at address 0047616B in module 'sss.exe'. Read of address 00000000.

I received this error after running 3S in safe mode.

Sorry 3S is not to be run in safe mode. guess I need to change the way I give instructions.

 Your log looks clean
Take a look at Tony Klein's article
So how did I get infected in the first place?

One of the best features of Windows XP is the System Restore option,
however if a virus infects a computer with this operating system the virus can be backed up
in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is necessary after a virus removal.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account
which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because
you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
