Xp Sus Trojan?

Please Could some kind soul Help Me? I'm so overwhelmed with issues!

I was on a home network (Netgear Router/high speed cable) w/two (sometimes more) additional computers. I first realized I had a problem when my Zone Alarm gave me an error message telling me I had to reinstall. I did reinstall.

Next my computer would not boot. I did a Windows repair install and since then have not been able to access the internet (always hung on finding IP), even though my LAN connection seemed fine. I physically "pulled the plug" on my network connection.

The next thing I noticed was that my AVG anti-virus was finishing much to quickly with full scans. My AVG anti-spyware was not ever finding any issues (in the past it always had at least 1 tracking issue w/Firefox). I uninstalled them both, thinking they may be corrupted, so I best download fresh copies and reinstall.

I downloaded new AVGs on another computer & transfered them to mine via flash drive. Now I cannot install any antivirus software on my XP system. Windows Installer Wrapper error - "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode or if the windows installer is not correctly installed."

Component Services showed no dependencies for any services a few days ago. Now dependencies get a "win32 access denied" error.

SEARCH from the START MENU does nothing, yet from within a Windows Explorer window SEARCH works fine.

Device Manager - both cd and dvd show ! inside yellow triangle with a status "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality (code 32)".
When I try to "populate" error of "Volume information for this device cannot be found. This may happen if the disk is a 1394 or a usb device on a Windows 2000 machine".

Please is there anyone who could advise me? I'm so lost and am grateful for any help at all.
