In answer to your question before. Trademanager is software for my work. Also, I followed your instructions to replace windows missing files thing but it prompted me to insert my windows cd and I can't find it. Any way I can do it without finding my windows cd? Would it be better for me at this point to just restore my computer back to the beginning? No matter how many times I redownload my FedEx shipping software it won't work once I try to open it the next day. Also, my limewire won't open and some things freeze such as my aol protections.
Also, my system restore still is not showing any bold dates. I'm beginning to dislike my computer and it'd only a year old.
Malware sometimes leaves some damage behind, the people that write this garbage want to exploit you and really don't care about any damage it may do . You had a Rootkit that was one of the worst kinds of infections.

Open AVG Anti Spware and go the Quarantine folder and remove it all.

Remove this entry with HJT.

Run another cleaner to clean out the temp files and such.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

Run this file through Killbox and lets make sure its gone.

Download Pocket Killbox to your desktop.

Highlight the file with the complete path inside the Quote Box and press Ctrl C on your keyboard.
  • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\RioDrvs.sys

  • Open Pocket Killbox
  • Go to File > Paste from clipboard
  • Set it to Delete on Reboot
  • Tick the box that says End Explorer shell while killing file
  • If its not greyed out..Click the radio button that say Unregister .dll before deleting.
  • Make sure Single File is selected
  • Click on the Red circle with the white X
  • It will ask you to confirm the deletion…Say yes
  • It will ask you to reboot, say yes
If you get a message "pending operations has been stopped by external process!" then reboot the computer manually.

Make sure you still have windows enabled to show all files and folders and browse to this file and right click on it and click on Properties and see what company owns this file. Please post the results
c:\WINDOWS\linkinfo.dll
Things are running better but there are files missing from all my software like FedEx software, Trademanager software, internet explorer, limewire and on and on. Everything I try to use either doesn't open or it opens and keeps giving me error messages. Did that rootkit thing delete certain files from everything? Also, I have to press f2 when I am restarting my computer. It stops again and I have to press enter for windows xp edition before it starts up. Other than those things it works better. I think we got rid of the viruses. Thanks. I will donate by the way.
By the way, I have redownloaded my FedEx software 10 times now but it keeps malfunctioning. I guess things are missing somewhere. I will never be able to keep this computer if I can't work from home with my software. It's not the software it's my computer. If I find my Window's cd will it fix it?

Why don't you post here on one of these forums , you can try our own forum for Other Computer Problems, we have knowledgeable staff that can guide you to possible fix your problem. I have to tell you though that depending on how your system is set up you may or may not need the windows disk. Be sure to tell them you posted here and that you had a rootkit and that we cleaned it.

Are you mad ? I mean really mad, seething mad, so mad your ready to spit, mad that you have taken your hard earned dollars to buy a computer only to have some Miscredents, Dirt Bags and Cyber Criminals install a malicious program on your computer without your knowledge or consent. You can post your complaint at the above site. If you live in the U.S.A. you can also report your grievance to your State Attorney Generals Office and the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Here are some free programs to install, don't leave home without them
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06
Check for Updates and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I wouldn't access the internet without it.
Thanks for stopping by Tom Coyote , I'm glad I was able to help you. :D
Thanks I am ordering a new cd on Monday. I somehow got that rio/drvs.sys virus again. I wasn't doing anything but checking my gmail and suddenly avast alerts me I have it. So I went in and did the killbox thing like you told me before because avast couldn't move it to the chest or delete it. I think it worked because avast is not alerting me anymore. I learned alot from you. Thanks again.
tnvols77, These infections are getting more sophisticated as we progress along. Lets do this, I will leave this thread open for you for about a week or so, at that point . why don't you run AVG Anti Spyware and post the log along with a New HJT log and lets make sure the beast did not come back. Ken :D
Ok my friend. My computer seems more infected than ever suddenly. I have not downloaded anything from the internet since we have been working on this problem so it must have already been on here. The only thing I downloaded was avg because the other avg suddenly stopped working. Then I tried to use my hjt but it stopped working too so I redownloaded that too. Other than those two things my computer hasn't downloaded anything. Here is this for you.
