Hi eveyone. Having problem with google entries and random URL entries redirecting to porn sites. My home page and search defaukt are OK. Run Ad-aware and deleted all it found. Still have problem. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
MyWebSearch
My Web Search Bar
MyWebSearch Email Plugin
Logitech\Desktop Messenger


Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"



Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingc.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text that will open (report.txt) Please save this file, you'll need to post it with a new HijackThis log.



Next:
Click Start> Run> type in CMD tap enter key
Copy/Paste: ipconfig /flushdns <-- Note the space between g /f. It needs to be there.


Now lets check some settings on your system.
Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections

Then right click on your Default Connection
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL
Left click on Properties
Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two


Reboot and "copy/paste" the text file (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Doing this tonight. Thought I'd post exactly what's hapening at moment. When you have a google search page up you can click on a link and it may or may not work. If it doesn't it seems to go to a random site name but with same page layout everytime. Basically the search results with porn links around main result panel. Two websites it does this on are oldheraira.com and robogold.biz. When you go back to google after one of these hits you sometimes can re-click on same google link and it will work OK. Seems to work all the time once it's got to correct site once. Also on some occasions you go to a nester.com search page with same results as your original google search.

Report.txt & new Hijackthis log below. Quickly trying google search it seems to have done the trick.
Can you explain what has happened and what cured it. Also what too avoid to stop it reoccurring. I am quite technical with PCs so should understand. I just haven't had to get too involved with things like this. I'll keep you posted on how it is going.

You can remove any programs I had you install. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove if listed there otherwise just delete them and empty recycle bin.

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.



If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.


Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware
