Shelf life asked this to be posted here. All of the folders from Guardian Monitor are locked in Spybot right now. I don't know if there is a virus going with the same name or someone has actually broken into my home and put this on my system. All help is greatly appreciated. The spybot log is too long to post but here is the hijack this.

hi shelljj, ok we are back. the hjt log is kind of old, but i dont see any malware in it. was spybot able to remove Guardian Monitor? i dont know what you mean by they "are locked" by spybot. do they refer to guardian monitor? most likely not a virus because your antivirus would be picking it up, spybot is more for trojans not viruses. you cant select the items in spybot and have it "fix them" (remove)? shelf life
Spybot has a "Recovery" section, when I click on it they are "locked" in there. I do not want to recover them into the system, but if I do a search on the computer and they are found in Spybot, it is password protected (by Spybot), so I just called them "locked in". I would print the screen and put it in here, but I'm not sure how to do that. It shows GuardianMoniter and the all the HKEY locations. I cannot find anything in the uninstall or the running processes that pretains to the GuardianMoniter, but it is in Spybots Recovery section. If you need anything else let me know what to post and once again, Thanks.
hi,

the good news is that anything in recovery means its been removed (fixed) by spybot. Any files in here cant be used anymore, your computer is safe.

any malware spybot finds is kept in a zip archive thats password protected. thats so somebody else cant come along and re-infect your computer. the archive is stored in documents and settings. if you click on one of the zipped folders you get a popup about a password being needed. the only two options to the folders in the zipped archive are limited to what can be done from the recovery section. either restore or remove for good using the recovery section in spybot. its made that way on purpose, for protection.

the needed password is probably somewhere in spybot, where i dont know. i may be able to find out.

i think what you want to do is go thru these spybot archives trolling for data about info that may have been passed or stored by guardian monitor? correct? did you poke around in here:

c:\windows\system32\gdsys
maybe you will find a text file left behind

you might also find some useful info at there website:

http://www.guardiansoftware.com/kb/Knowledge_Base_System.htm

shelf life
I ran a search for the c:\windows\system32\gdsys, nothing was found. Also, I have been emailing Guardian Moniter asking if they could help me find out where the files were sent or any other kind of help at this point, but all they do is ask if I will tell them how I found it on my system. I refuse to tell them and they refuse to help. I haven't been able to find anything on here except what Spybot has, other than that, not folders or files. Oh well, I guess I should check into a keylog moniter or something to tell it anything is put back on here again. Thanks for all your help and patience with this.
hi,

all they do is ask if I will tell them how I found it on my system.

thats too funny, jeeez its commercial software iam sure dozens of malware scanners will pick it up.

look if you havent already you should change any password you use online.

I guess I should check into a keylog moniter

you have one already, spybot search and destroy.

you still have the files in the spybot password protected archive? would you like me to see about opening them? i would be happy to try and pull any info out of them. you could email me the zipped folders that deal with guardian monitor. i could try installing the entire archive on one of my computers and play around with it. up to you. or you could just purge them all using spybots recovery window.

is put back on here again

somebody had access to your computer, maybe a ex girl/boyfriend, spouse etc?
