Hi Ben, Welcome to TomCoyote forum. If you still want help, please do this:

1) Your HJT.exe is outdated, we are working logs with version 1.99.1. You can update from within the software liks this: Open HJT > Open the Misc Tools section > Scroll to Check for update online > Follow instructions. If you should have an issue, downloads are available here:
http://www.malwareremoval.com/downloads.html

2) I will make a suggestion, you have your HJT folder is a position I would change. I would put it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. For ease of using create a shortcut to your desktop and you will only need to access the folder to view previous logs. Make sure you delete the other folder in Docs and Settings.

3) You are hijacked by New.Net. I have yet to find anyone who downloaded this hijacker on purpose. If you did, stop and notify me. Here are directions for removing it:
http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

Stay in this same thread and post a new log using v1.99.1 and we will see what is left to do.

Thanks…pskelley

also is there a way you can tell me how i can disabke akk my start up programs that i dont need as my system takes a while to load windows xp its a 3.0ghz 1 gig ram and is running like a pentium 166

cheers
Hello Sir, :) great job following the directions, you followed them 100%

heres the new log webroot spy sweeper isn't picking up any more new.net start up's which seems good

Yep, the New.Net hijacker is gone, it was the 010 items in the first HJT log, let's see what is left to do.

1) This item: C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\DAP.EXE is ok IF you purchased it. The freeware version is adware based and should be removed from your computer. Please let me know if you purchased it, if not I may be able to locate a safe alternative.
See this information >> http://castlecops.com/startuplist-7192.html

2) This is a valid it but it is missing a file and as such can not be functioning the way it should be. I suggest you reinstall this item if you want to use it. If not, remove it with HJT.
O2 - BHO: IECatcher Class - {B930BA63-9E5A-11D3-A288-0000E80E2EDE} - C:\Program Files\Mass Downloader\MDHELPER.DLL (file missing)

3) Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

(if you do not want google as your startpage, check this one)
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://google.com/
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
next item see this: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-9038.html
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://ny.contentmatch.net (HKLM)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

5) Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running.

also is there a way you can tell me how i can disabke akk my start up programs that i dont need as my system takes a while to load windows xp its a 3.0ghz 1 gig ram and is running like a pentium 166

If you are asking how to disable programs that are not needed at startup, use this information: http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/ I will quickly list the ones I see that should not be needed and can be run via Start, All Programs when they are. I don't suggest disabling them at once, rather one or two at a time with a period to see how turning them off effects your computing. The information in the link under the items needs to be considered:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinFast Schedule] C:\Program Files\WinFast\WFTVFM\WFWIZ.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-4377.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\bin\jusched.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-3552.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
http://www.auditmypc.com/process/qttask.asp
This was is hard to turn off, I suggest if you do not use it that you uninstall it via Add Remove Programs.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe
Not must information, Associated with "Nero Burning Rom" CD writing software. Checks for driver issues. You can look for it in MSCONFIG but you may not have an option to start it manually. Look within the program to see if it needs to run.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C-Media Mixer] Mixer.exe /startup
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-489.html

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DownloadAccelerator] C:\PROGRA~1\DAP\DAP.EXE /STARTUP
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-7192.html

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-795.html

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background
If you use it fine, If not shut it off from withing the program and start it manually when required.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
Same as above, one is MSNIM and the other Windows Messenger and I think this is Windows, neither is needed at start up unless you wish it to be so. One note would be that both can't run at the same time.

Since you have plenty of RAM, I will ask if you keep your maintenance up to date, scandisk, defrag, etc. If you need information about maintenance for your Operating System, let me know.

Remove with HJT the items posted above, and let me see a final HJT log. I will have some great information at that time to help you stay clean and safe.

Hello Sir, your log looks good :) and here is that information I promised from some of the most respected folks in malware removal.

If you are reading this information…thank a teacher, If you are reading it in English…thank a soldier.
I have to say that I download little, so I am surely not expert in this field. It is rare that you can get something free without strings being attached amd it does not take long for the word to spread among users about products that burden us with adds and other hidden junk. While I have never used DAP folks I trust like CastleCops keeps us informed by testing these "free" products and making us aware of the results. I will list what I have found along with reviews both pro and con and you can decide for yourself. I hope this information helps.

First to be fair to DAP, see this: http://www.speedbit.com/ You will notice the paid version says: Absolutely no advertisements! You will not see this on the left side of the page. If you wish to pay this price to use the software free, that is certainly your right.
