My girlfriends computer is hijacked and the internet wont work and the start bar has been hijacked. I have run spybot, ad-aware and avg both in regular and safe mode. Since her internet is inoperable I had to copy my hijackthis to an external hard drive and move it to hers. This is the log I got after running fixes. Also, I removed 3 similarly named problems with spybot, but cant remember their exact names, something along the lines of microsoft corrupter or something. Thanks in advance, I and my girlfriend appreciate your efforts.

Almost forgot, tried to use Onecare and Trojan Hunter but got a setup files are corrupt message.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Lets see if we can get the PC back on the internet. This file will fit on a floppy or thumb drive.

Get a copy of winsockxpfix.exe You just run it and
things should work OK after it reboots your system.

If that's from Normal Mode, she doen't have a Anti-virus or Firewall. Nothing bad is showing in the log. Are you sure the connections, modem, wires, router, etc are working? Have you looked in Device Manager and see if everything is working?

Everything is hooked up properly for internet, im just unplugging the cable from this computer to hers. We also tried at her house and my parents, both where other computers were getting online fine. If this helps this is the condition with her start bar and tool tray. It looks normal except it is thicker, meaning theres a white box below where all the minimized windows were. At the end nearest the tray theres a small arrow that points down when you click on it the following options are available: prefences; which when prompted opens internet explorer to this site http://127.0.0.1:466...wi1s6pB05T_SyCs
Indexing; with options of pause indexing, re-index and index status; when selecting these options nothing happens,
Lock Search...; again nothing happens
Sidebar; Deskbar; Floating Deskbar; with nothing happening if these are selected either
About...; which takes to this address http://127.0.0.1:466...8_M6FuultHFTQtE
and Close; which also does nothing if selected.
Next to the arrow is a little square that looks like a maximize window icon.

Sorry, thats the best I could describe the situation.
Also, I have AVG but I guess it wasnt running at the time of the HJK, and I guess she doesnt have a firewall.

OK. So it's not like her connection isn't working  Have you tried System Restore? 1. Click Start. 2. Point to All Programs. 3. Point to Accessories. 4. Point to System Tools. 5. Click System Restore. 6. Follow the instructions on the wizard. See if you can find a date the the PC worked. Let me know if that's a no go and we'll try something else.

Sorry, I found out that someone had gone through and messed with her system settings. Its not any malware at all. That "mysterious" white box was a confused google desktop toolbar. Now Im just going to have to find a forum where they help with that kind of stuff. Thanks so much for your time, and Im sorry for my mistake. Take care.
