When HJT runs and saves a logfile, what are all the processes it lists before the log itself (r1, and so on) begins? I am curious because my HJT log never includes C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE and virtually all the other logs I see includes it.
I'm sure this is why my taskbar and start menu are non-existent, since explorer.exe is somehow not running. What gives?
hjt lists running processes on your computer. explorer.exe is the " shell manager" that controls file manager, start menu, task manager etc.
it may be possible that a users settings are corrupted. can you log in under another user or guest account? you could also have malware on your computer. i would post the full hjt log. create a new topic in the forum listed below, and i will look for it there:
