Hi,

I've been trying to get rid of some trojans, but haven't managed to do it yet, so I would appreciate any help.

I have scanned my computer with both Panda and Sophos antivirus (and following Sophos intructions to remove trojans). I have already removed Troj/Cimuz-CD from my system but the system is still hanging from time to time and also showing blue screens (sth like Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal and NDIS.sys).

I have run Spybot Search and Destroy and found the following things :

Microsoft.Windows.SecurityCenter.FirewallByPass
Smitfraud-C
Win32.Agent.pz

Spybot couldn't clean the files rpcc.dll (for Smitfraud) and the files video.dll, audio.dll located in the subdirectory system32\wsnpoem\ (for Win32.Agent.pz)

I tried to clean them by using KillBox, but did sth wrong and they're still there.

I ran HijackedThis and found problems with ntos.exe , mszsrn32.dll and the LSP stack. I tried to fix them, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I really would appreciate any help, and I'm pasting the HijackedThis log.

Many thanks

Hello and welcome to TC. :)

Sorry for the delay. If you're still having problems and are not receiving help elsewhere, please post a fresh HijackThis log and I'll be happy to assist you.
Hi,

Thanks for your help. Now I managed to remove some of the infections in my computer but I think that my computer is still infected.

After running Spybot it still found :

Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter.FirewallBypass

I haven't told Spybot to remove it yet.

I also checked the settings of my firewall and in the programs allowed in the firewall , I found an entry called mstsdsc (which I believe it's some form of the Troj/Cimuz-CD).

Here is the fresh post of my Hijackthis Log:

Hi,

This is an ugly trojan. I would like to caution you that your computer may have been compromised and it may not be safe to use it even after fixing it. Below is a quote from Sophos analysis page (the advanced tab):

* Turns off anti-virus applications
* Allows others to access the computer
* Downloads code from the internet
* Reduces system security
* Installs itself in the Registry

You might like to consider a reformat and reinstall of the OS. In all honesty, if this were to be my computer, I would reformat and reinstall Windows XP.

Please read these for more information:

Danger: Remote Access Trojans
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/…o/virusrat.mspx

When should I re-format? How should I reinstall?
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451

If you wish not to re-format and reinstall, please continue with the following instructions. You may have to print them out so that you can have access to them at all times.

=====================================

Please go to My Computer> Tools> Folder Options> View>"Uncheck" Hide protected operating system files. Click Apply>OK.

==================================

Download WinSockFixXP to fix broken LSP chain for Windows XP. (Do not run this unless you lose your internet connection after running LSPfix).

==================================

Download Lspfix. Extract(unzip) it to its own folder. Disconnect from the internet, and close all browser windows. Run LSPFix. Click the "I know what I'm doing" button. In the left hand pane, highlite all instances of tmwsock.dll (and nothing else), move them to the "Remove" pane and by clicking the >> button. Click Finish.

==================================

Reboot to complete the process.

==================================

Please download Ccleaner and save it to your desktop.
Tutorial for CCleaner
During the installation be sure to UN-check the box for "Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar" unless you want it. Do not scan with it yet.

==================================
  • Please download ComboFix
Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop. Don't do anything with it yet.

==================================

Then, download and scan with HijackThis 1.99.1 by following the instructions below:

Click HERE to download a self-extracting version of Hijackthis. Double click on the file, by default it will extract itself to C:\Hijackthis

Next, double click on Hijackthis.exe. Click "Scan System and Save a Logfile." A Notepad will appear in your screen, copy and paste the contents of the notepad to your next reply.

Please post back the results from AVG Anti-Spyware and Panda online scans, the ComboFix.txt and a fresh HijackThis log.
