I had the vunda virus and something called conhook trojan on my computer. It is running horrible. I tried AdAware, PC Doctor5 and Spybot but the problem still exists. Random windows keep popping up in IE and the performance is very sluggish. Can anyone tell me what steps to take? I also used the Vundafix.exe utility and it didn't completely clear the problem. My antivirus is NOD32 which didn't stop the infection.

Here is my Log file

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Open the HijackThis Folder. Find the file HijackThis.exe, Right Click on the file and Select Rename. Rename Hijackthis.exe to Spyware.exe.

Post a new HijackThis Log.
Thank you for your reply. I could not wait for a response due to the need for my computer. I wiped the C drive and reinstalled windows. I am up and running and all is well. I apologize for not making an appropriate log with hijack this but this is new to me. This is a wonderful site and if you have the time to wait for a response it is invaluable. Keep up the good work guys all us out there need you. The one thing I will say that disturbed me is that I used NOD32 which I thought was the best and it allowed the multiple infections. Kaspersky found 5 more infections on my other drives that NOD32 missed. I would have been reinfected after the formatting had I not used KIS6. I have no allegiances to Kaspersky other than it WORKS!
They all find different items. That's why no one program will do it all.
Glad you're up and running

Thanks for posting back and letting us know :wavey:

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
So how did I get infected in the first place?
