How to uninstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)
Summary: This document explains how to remove McAfee Consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool. This option should only be used as an alternative if you cannot remove your McAfee product through the normal Add/Remove Programs.

Affected Products:
McAfee Security Center
McAfee VirusScan
McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
McAfee Privacy Service
McAfee SpamKiller
McAfee Wireless Network Security
McAfee SiteAdvisor
McAfee Data Backup
McAfee Network Manager
McAfee Easy Network
McAfee AntiSpyware
Affected Operating Systems:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Microsoft Windows Vista
NOTE: This tool is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 or ME.

Description
Running the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR.exe) removes all 2005, 2006, and 2007 versions of McAfee consumer products.

Solution
Download and run the McAfee Removal tool

Download the removal tool from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licens…atches/MCPR.exe.
Click Save and save the file to any folder on the computer.
Navigate to the folder where the file is saved.
Make sure all McAfee application windows are closed.
Double-click MCPR.exe and the removal tool will start automatically.
Note: Windows Vista users must right-click and select Run as Administrator.
Once the removal tool is finished, you will be prompted to restart your computer. If you choose to restart later, your McAfee product will not be fully removed until you do.
Wait for the computer to restart.

All McAfee products are now removed from your computer.

Please Note:
It is always a better practice to provide a "link to the download site", instead of a "direct download"

Here's the McAfee download site for the McAfee Removal Tool:

Members should be very "skeptical" of posts containing "direct download" links, as such links can contain malware and redirects to sites that can be harmful.

You will notice that experienced members who regularly post help replies "very rarely" post "direct download" links….. for this very reason. (except in the Monitored - Malware Removal Forum) <– but please note that those authorized to provide replies in the Malware Removal Forums have been trained and have passed qualifying examination and monitoring of their work on an ongoing basis.

In one way, it is a couresty to all of our Members to avoid the practice of posting "direct Download" links.

Thanks.
Let's have a look at what that "blank" item might be. Probably OK, but sometimes an unlabled item in MSCONFIG is a third-party software of dubious value, and sometimes is outright Malware. Open HJT.exe Click on "Open Misc Tools Section" Click on "Generate a StartUpList Log" Copy/Paste it here in your next Reply.
Download HiJackThis.exe from here:
http://www.radiosplace.com

Save HiJackThis.exe to its own Folder on your C:\ drive
Create a New Folder - C:\New Folder
Rename the Folder - C:\HiJackThis\

When downloaded and saved it will look like this: C:\HighJackThis\HighJackThis.exe

Double-Click on HighJackThis.exe to open/run the HighJackThis utility.

It will look like this: (click as indicated in RED)
[external image: Posted Image]

The Next Panel will look like the following: (click as indicated in RED)
[external image: Posted Image]

HJT will then run a scan of your StartUps and present you with a Notepad list.
Copy/Paste that list in your next reply.

Best Regards

What makes you think you have a fake windows installation?

You appear to have the Windows Genuine Advantage Tool loaded.

Is it reporting a problem when you do your updates?
_______

You can go the Microsoft site to Scan for any Piracy features and Validate your XP, here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtote…ws/default.mspx
i got the anti piracy number from microsoft and yes at th right botton corner of the screen where the clock is a icon comes out saying my pc is a risk because is not genuine and then i click on it AND it takes me to a website to pay to make it genuine
Talk to Microsoft, giving all of the company information details to them. They may or may not take action against the company, and that may or may not help you. Talk to the company that installed this Operating System. Tell them the problem that you have experienced, and what you have done so far……. including that you reported to MS. Ask for an "immediate" correction. Work your way up through the supervisors to somebody who can make a decision. Consider reporting the company to whatever local version of "Better Business Bureau" you might have. _________ You have other items to attend to, to improve your machine's performance, but that will all change if the company agrees to install a legitimate OS. So I'd recommend that you wait, unless there are specific "urgent" problems you need to attend to. Don't just "hope for the best". "Expect" the company to make things right. Best Regards
well i did but the boss gave me some bull C telling me that what i have is a virus telling me that my windows is fake but then i started asking him question to see if i could get him on his own lies and i did because he said look i have installed that ungenuine version on a lot of computers and no1 has complaint so why have u and then click the phone on me lol and i went to thatwebsite to get it fixed and it chrages me $189
