CPU usage is always at 100 percent and task manager says explorer.exe is running from 88 to 92 percent.
I have run McAfee antivirus - Ad Aware - Spybot - Windows Defender and have tried to run Housecall - Panda - and Kaspersky on-line but it says connection to slow (I am on cable). Here is my log. It seems like it takes forever for something to load. Thank You for your anticipated help.

Welcome to the forum, I am not sure as this infection changes constantly but you may be infected with LOP.

Lets run the tool and see what it comes up with.

Please Download No Lop to your desktop
  • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
  • Double click NoLop.exe to run it
  • Now click the button labeled "Search and Destroy"
    <>
  • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
  • Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
  • A Message should pop-up from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log after completing the next steps.
–If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

Post the LOP report and a New HJT Log please

Forum is a little slow this evening  LOP may have found some bad entries but we need to dig further.

You may want to print this out as we will be offline for part of the fix.

You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here

Download and install the 30 day trial of AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 to your desktop.
  • Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
  • Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <– Dont forget this
  • Under Reports
  • Select Automatically generate report after every scan
  • Un-Select Only if threats were found
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 <– Do not run the scan yet.

Download the Stand Alone Version of CWShredder to your desktop.
  • Open CWShredder
  • Check for Updates
  • Close out the program. <– Dont run it yet

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

Reboot and run this system cleaner

Download and Install CCleaner
If you don't want the Yahoo Toolbar, be sure to uncheck it during installation
* Click on Run Cleaner
* Run the Issues Scan < – After it scans your system, when you click on the Fix button and it asks you to backup the Registry..Say Yes
Tutorial for CCleaner

Let me see the AVG log and a New HJT log and let me know if CWS found anything.
Did everything requested with these results.
AVG did not have a log to save but did get rid of some things.
CWShredder found nothing.
Removed entries using HijackThis.
Could not fine the files:
C:\DOCUME~1\MAC\APPLIC~1\WARNDA~1\Win online.exe
C:\Documents and Setting\mac\application data\warnda \ win online.exe
I looked and then did a search and could not find.
Ran CCleaner and it said 70 entries denied but cleared about 700 others.

Still have the problem and here is my new log. (This will not give me white hair as they are already white)

xrxmac :D

My hair has been white for years ( whats left of it ) :(

FYI C:\Program Files\FlashGet <– the free version gives you adds and popups the paid version does not so your call to uninstall it or not.

AVG did not have a log to save but did get rid of some things. It does give you a log if you ran it correctly, its real important that I see it because it can give me a tip leading to something bad. Try opening AVG and look for the Reports and if you can paste in this thread.

Here is how to restore a entry with HJT in case there is a problem.
To restore the backups:
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on "View the list of Backups"
  • Place a check mark next to anything you want to restore
  • Click Restore
  • Click Yes
  • Reboot your computer
Remove this with HJT.
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local

Then reset your hosts files like this.
Download HostsXpert v3.7
  • Unzip HostXpert to your desktop
  • Open up the HostXpert program.
  • Make sure that the "Make Hosts Writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
  • Click Create Back Up
  • Then click on Restore Microsoft's Host Files
  • Close the HostXpert program

Run both these scans, Blacklight is quick and will show anything that may be hiding. Then run the free online virus scanner from Panda, that will take the better part of an hour but make sure you save the report and post .

Download and Save the Trial of Blacklight to your desktop.
  • Download the Blacklight Beta graphical user interface version
  • Double-click blbeta.exe
  • Then accept the agreement
  • Click > scan then > next
  • You'll see a list of all items found. There will also be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
  • Copy and paste this log in your next reply.
  • Don't choose the rename option yet! I want to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there, such as "wbemtest.exe"

Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
  • A new window will open…click the big "Check Now" button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
  • If you are on a slow connection it will take about 15 minuites for the scanner to load.
  • Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
  • Once scan is done, click "see report" then "save report"
  • Save the log someplace you can find
  • 12. Reboot
  • Post the Panda scan results in your next reply

Let me see the Panda, Blacklight and a new HJT log .
I Removed this with HJT. R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local I then opened HostsXport and Click to get Make Hosts Writable. I then clicked on make backup but nothing happened. ??? I stopped their till I hear from you again.
Unzip it to your desktop, click on Make Hosts Writable, then Create Back Up, a window should pop up telling you that the backup was created successfully, Then click on Restore Microsoft's Host Files and close the program. If it still wont work, just proceed to the two scans. Ken :D
After 4 hours of getting the Active x from Panda I finally got to the screen that lets me select Local Disks and (boo hoo) it says error on the page and will do nothing. I tried this twice more but to no avail. I also scanned (in safe mode( with AVG agin and got a log.

While in safe mode (after the scan) I opened task manager and CPU usage was normal.
Now my McAfee anti-virus just disabled itself all on its own and will not come back on. And things got slower as it took me about 30 minutes just to get to this page and post. (What a day it has been-but I will have a senior moment anytime now and forget-hehehehe)

I will shut down and try to get on tomorrow and check.
Thank You
On some systems Panda will run real quick and on others it takes forever or will not run. I suspect that if you check task manager back in normal windows that your CPU may be back at the higher level. Blacklight checks for hidden rootkits and it found nothing, AVG found cookies and a few bad entries in your system restore program. Nothing to worry about right now , we can fix that later.

Do a couple more things for me.
Run this other scanner if you can from Trendmicro and post the report.

Please run Trend Micro House Call
  • Click Scan now. It's free!
  • Read and put a Check next to Yes I accept the terms of use.
  • Click the Launching HouseCall>> button.
  • Under "Browser plug-in" Installing and using Housecall kernel, click the Starting HouseCall>> button.
  • You may receive a prompt to install the ActiveX, click install.
  • If you are taken back to the main page, click Launching HouseCall>> button again.
  • Under Scan complete computer for malware, grayware, and vulnerabilities click the Next>> button.
  • Please be patient while it installs, updates, and scans your system.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will take you to the summary page.
  • Under Cleanup options, choose clean all detected infections automatically.
  • Click the Clean now>> button.
  • If anything was found you may be prompted to run the scan again, you can just close the browser window.
  • When the scan is finished, please restart your computer.

Then do this .
  • Open HJT
  • Then open the Misc Tools section
  • click on Generate a Startup List Log,
  • Don't check the 2 boxes just yet.
  • Post the log into this thread
The rest of your HJT log looks fine
I actually made it to the finish with Housecall. Showed 2 trojens and a couple of cookies. My McAfee started working again (do not know why), and Flashget will not uninstall.

Here is my startup log from HJT

You have got to understand that I am sitting on a computer most likely 1000s of miles away from you and I can't see whats going on on your system, your basically my eyes and ears.

I actually made it to the finish with Housecall. Showed 2 trojens and a couple of cookies This tells me absolutely nothing as you have not told me what trojans they are. I needed to see the original log from AVG because that may have pointed to something bad, you failed to provide that also, so after the cleaning, the second log is not showing me what may have been on your system.

Flashget in not the culprit here so lets not worry about it.

System Restore makes regular backups of all your settings, if you ever had to use this program to restore your system to a previous date, you will be infected all over again so we need to clean out the previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore.
  • Right-click My Computer.
  • Click Properties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • Check Turn off System Restore on all Drives.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Reboot your System

Turn ON System Restore.
  • Right-click My Computer.
  • ClickProperties.
  • Click the System Restore tab.
  • UN-Check Turn off System Restore on all Drives.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Create a new Restore Point <– Very Important
  • Go to Start/ Control Panel/ Performance and Maintenance/ System Restore/ Create a New Restore Point
You can name the restore point anything you like, something that you can remember, You will have to be in Catagory View to see this
System Restore Tutorial <– If you need it

I am going to refer you to our other forum for windows problems to see if they can't help you with your hi CPU usage ( is it back in normal windows…you have not told me that also ) I will leave this thread open for you for a week or so incase they can't find the problem and believe its virus related and at that point we can dig deeper. I will let them take over as this forum is not for windows problems but for malware removal only.

OTHER COMPUTER PROBLEMS

How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.

Here are some free programs to install, don't leave home without them
  • Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06
Check for Updates and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
  • Spyware Blaster It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
  • Spyware Guard It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give you the option to deny the change.
  • IE-Spyad
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  • Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I wouldn't access the internet without it.
Lets hope they can pinpoint the problem
Thank you so very much for all of your work. (Yes usage is still at 100 in normal) I will continue with the link provided and will get all of the programs listed. Again Thank You.
