Hi,
sorry if I have posted in the wrong section.
I have only just installed a new hard drive,
as I installed my bits and bobs, I ran hijackthis and and saved as ignore as i went on.
so the hijackthis report would only show anything added after I set my comp up.
I have just got a load of trojans etc
I have run hijack this and deleted them, I also ran ad-ware, and avg anti spyware, also avg virus.
all seems to be good now, except I keep getting this below in hijackthis.
023- service: windows service - unknown owner - c:\windows\system32\dmzwn.exe
it only showed up the same time as all the trojans etc.
in system32 properties it says it was modified today
29/3/07….as I have said the same time as the trojans were downloaded.

below is a log of my hijackthis, its the full list, all is on ignore except for the last entry, which is the dmzwn.
nomatter what I try it keeps showing up again.
many thanks for any help or advice anyone can give.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :) I'm Markka and I will be helping you with your malware issues. I check your HijackThis log. Right now I'm MRU Undergrad, everything that I post to you must be checked by teachers of Malware Removal University. Please be patient. :)
You don't have a firewall on your computer. Here are free and good firewalls: (Install only one)

Comodo
OutPost
Kerio
Sygate
ZoneAlarm

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Open HijackThis, Click Do a system scan only, checkmark these and press fix checked:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O23 - Service: Windows Management Service - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmzwn.exe

Open Notepad
-> copy the following lines into a new document:

@echo off
sc delete "Windows Management Service"

Save the document to your desktop as Fix.bat and filetype: All Files
Go to your desktop and run the file Fix.bat and answer yes to any questions.

Now lets check some settings on your system.
(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

Please download AVG Anti-Spyware to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch AVG Anti-Spyware is checked.

    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and uncheck Start with Windows.
  • Right-click the AVG Anti-Spyware Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.

AVG Anti-Spyware manual updates.
Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that AVG Anti-Spyware is closed before installing the update.

  • Let the program scan the machine.
  • When the scan has finished, follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT : Don't click on the "Save Scan Report" button before you did hit the "Apply all Actions" button.
    • Make sure that Set all elements to: shows Quarantine (1), if not click on the link and choose Quarantine from the popup menu. (2)

Kaspersky online scanner works only with IE!

Please run an online scanner with Kaspersky Online Scanner. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

    o Scan Options:

    + Scan Archives
    + Scan Mail Bases

  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Hi :)

Why you took a fresh HijackThis log with HijackThis 2.00 beta? Please take a new HjT log and use HijackThis 1.99.1 :) Also I can't see firewall in HijackThis log. Firewall protects your computer very much. I recommend to install some free firewall.

Firewalls: (install only one!)

Comodo
OutPost
Kerio
Sygate
ZoneAlarm

Post:
* a fresh HijackThis log (remember use HijackThis 1.99.1!)
