Hello there, I'm a new member. I found this site when seeking a place that helps with removing:
Win32.Trojandownloader.Zlob

So…It all started with a pop up from my task bar in desktop saying something like "warning, you have spy-ware, click here to solve", then a software names AntiVermean did a scan on my computer and two icons on my desktop were created. Something like "internet security guide/help".
Instinctively I performed some JV 16 searches to delete bad registries.
I deleted the antivermean program and reg's, then those icons on desktop. The I found I had some new instances running- Under a file named Video ActiveX. In order to delete them (I couldn't kill the proccesses) I used a program named Unlocker and renamed all the files. After that it was possible to delete.
So after all the menual deletions I thought I was done. I ran an Ad-Aware scan only to find I have this annoying Win32.Trojandownloader.Zlob.
Of course, after deleting it and rebooting, I found it there again:(

So, I came to this forum, read the begginner instructions and did the following:
downloaded AVG AP and Hijackthis.
Updated and performed HJT scan. After that rebooted into safe mode and performed the AVG scan and aplied everything. Then I did a reboot and took the logs again- 1 HJT, and 1 AVG. Thats what I thought I should do.
After that I ran that ATF Cleaner.

I hope I didn't do any newbie mistake. I also read the post about video activeX and other slywares and downloaded SmitFraudFix but havn't done anything about it yet, I thought I should wait to see what you guys think.

So here are the logs:

HJT before safe mode:

THX FOR THE HELP GUYS :weee:
Only for Windows XP and Windows 2000

Hello and welcome to the Forums.

With AVG Anti-Spyware, if you click on the Infections icon, then it will show you all the items in Quarrantine and you can remove them that way. Just click Select All (if all of the items in quarrantine need removing) then Remove Finally

Next:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe
Double Click SmitfraudFix.exe on your Desktop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

[external image: Posted Image]

______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

[external image: Posted Image]

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named:
c:\rapport.txt

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please post:
C:\rapport.txt
Hey thx for the help. I'm not sure about deleting the files AVG quarantined, because some are system files I think. Could you please verify that? C:/WINDOWS/system32/TFTP2592 C:/WINDOWS/system32/scvhost2.0xe and some more which look less important in …/_restore/ btw, I also have a problem that every few hours I get an error message "Unable to run restart.exe". I read that it supposed to be a trojan as well. Havn't found the file so far (restart.exe) and am doing an online BitDefender scan right now. here is the log you wanted to see: SmitFraudFix v2.141 Scan done at 3:21:10.09, Sat 02/10/2007 Run from C:\Documents and Settings\Guy\Desktop\SmitfraudFix OS: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] - Windows_NT The filesystem type is NTFS Fix run in normal mode »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» hosts »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\ »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\Web »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system32 »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Documents and Settings\Guy »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Documents and Settings\Guy\Application Data »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Start Menu »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\DOCUME~1\Guy\FAVORI~1 C:\DOCUME~1\Guy\FAVORI~1\Online Security Test.url FOUND ! »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Desktop »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» C:\Program Files »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Corrupted keys »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Desktop Components [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\0] "Source"="About:Home" "SubscribedURL"="About:Home" "FriendlyName"="My Current Home Page" »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Sharedtaskscheduler !!!Attention, following keys are not inevitably infected!!! Please go to http://virusscan.jotti.org , click on Browse, and upload the following file for analysis:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\scvhost2.0xe

Then click Submit. Allow the file to be scanned,

Do the same for this one:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TFTP2592

Then please copy and paste the results here for me to see.

If Jotti is too busy you can try these.

I can't find those files:/ I restored one (I hope it wasn't a big mistake) in order to see if it doesn't say something like "the file is missing" or something. Well, it restored it, but I still can't find it, am also doing new scans. (should I do the avg scan in safe mode again?) Couldn't find anything about the restart.exe either. Ad-aware and BitDefender found nothing.
I'm such a newbie.. Anyway, I ran the avg scan in normal mode and found it, same file. Now how can I upload the file to scan it if I can't find it manually?
Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Still can't find the files. btw the scvhost2.0xe is a Backdoor.Rbot and the second is HeuristicWin32.Morphine-Crypted and is medium Risk. The closest thing I found is in the start-up: x3 Generic Host Process2 System Backup (Filename: scvhost2.exe) Loaded from: HKEY_CU/Run HKEY_LM/Run HKEY_LM/RunServices Scvhost2 is also a file I can't find. I only find the Svchost.exe (note that one is svc and the second is scv..)
scvhost2.exe <–Bad

Running the Clean

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
______________________________

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.

[external image: Posted Image]

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

I only see one minor one.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"
As far as I know updreg.exe is a creative soundcard process… I did the fix anyway I don't use the card anymore.. What does this mean?: O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'winsflt.dll' missing So you say my computer is supposed to be clean right now?    :P If so, I should turn off the system restore, reboot and then turn it on again, right?

You can remove any programs I had you install

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

If you dont have any programs like these, I would recommend that you get them.
Spywareblaster,
Spywareguard.

Also get a FREE FIREWALL and FREE ANTI VIRUS if you need one.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system.

Keep your system up to date and run Adaware & Spybot, once a week works, and hopefully you will be ok from here on. Both are available below.

Do not use Ad-aware if you have McAfee's VirusScan and AntiSpyware

Safe Surfing. :D

I would also suggest you read this:
