. Well there are a few things wrong but I'll start with the major one. A few weeks ago the pagefile usage (memory usage) in the taskmanager started to go waaaaayyyy up. The computer only had 256 mb's of ram and about 350 mb's of virtual memory. When having more than 3 or 4 windows/programs open(give or take a few since every program uses a different amout of memory) i had not installed any new programs so this had no reason to be happening. I ran spybot search and destroy but it did not find any virus, so i followed the proper steps to increase the virtual memory to 2.5 gb's. Everything worked fine until today when I opened up task manager and glanced at the pagefile usage. 2.5 gbs of pagefile was being used! I could not believe it so i ran spybot search and destroy again but it did not detct anything. Another much more minor problem is a very annoying taskbar icon. It shows a green handicap sing which switchs every second to a red circle with a line going diagonly through it. Holding the mouse over it shows the message "virus alert "(without quotation marks) and right clicking it does not do anything so it cannot be removed by the basic end option like most taskbar icons. Left clicking it brings up a box outlined in red that says at the top in big bold letters " YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED" it continues a little lower down saying " Critical System Error! System detcted virus activites. They may cause critical system failure. PLease, use antimalware sofware to clean and protect your system from parasite programs. Click here to get all available sofware." This came from a virus we got about a year ago. We got rid of the virus but never got rid of the icon.Well i hope this explains it all, i tried to add as much detail as possible. If you need to know anything else please ask.
