My daughter got a new computer with Vista Home Premium. It did not come with MS word. She has a copy of Microsoft Office 97 from a previous computer. Does anyone know if it is compatable with Vista? Or how I can find out? Could trying to install it create any problems ? Thank You
Vista often comes with MS Works bundled. Inside Works you may find Word for MS Works. If not………. You can safely install and use Word '97 on any Windows platform from Win95 - Vista. Word 2007 has an option for a new format file extension (.docx) which is not available in previous versions of Word. However, users of Word 2007 can select "Save As" and select ".doc" to make their documents available to folks using earlier versions of Word. MS Office is a terribly expensive set of software. I'm sure that you will be seeing this topic questioned by many who still prefer to use earlier versions of Office. Join the crowd, your Word '97 will still work! Best Regards
Thank You for your help. The main concern here was the cost of buying a new Microsoft Office. It is the complete program with word.
