I use this computer for paying my bills and making travel arrangements, etc. Really need to make my computer safe as fast as possible. My kid was using Bearshare the other day. :rant2:

I ran a scan of Avg Free Spyware as usual and for 2 days in a row it has picked up and quarantined 2 items as follow:

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

This will get rid of the items in C:\system volume information\-restore

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Had a family emergency.
A friend had sent me a program to use for splitting up a file that is too large to send. After downloading and trying to run the exe file I immediately ran a spyware scan on just this program. I found another worm. Worm.warezov.fh
Located in C:\documents and settings\cc\my documents\WinRar_Portable\app\RarExt loader.exe

I did as you instructed but deleted this WinRar program I had downloaded. I quarantined the worm in my AVG Spyware program. I ran another HiJack this scan and it is as follows:

After I posted the above log I ran HouseCall. It had found and says cleaned the following:

1 Infection - Alias: Adware-Softomate (McAfee)

2 Infections - Worm_Generic

This is the only one I see. Run HJT and fix this one: O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file) How's it running?
