Here is my logfile from HiJack this could someone help me interpret what is bad. My virus software detected NvCpl.dll as a virus and that is the only one I could find but I wanted a second professional opinion. Is this "O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup" what I need to delete or "fix" in hijack this? I used regedit and deleted it from there and unchecked it in msconfig startup but it came back after I rebooted. After a full Bit defender 10 scan the only virus it found was here "C:\Program Files\Ashampoo\Ashampoo AntiSpyWare\Quarantine\a2quarantine.tmp=>System Volume Information/_restore{D664491D-C877-45DE-9BBC-B576A825175F}/RP15/A0000942.EXE=>(Quarantine-PE) Detected: Spyware.Hidewindow.A" and It could not disinfect the file. Could this virus be the source of the problem for the bad registry key?

Thank you so much for your input,
Jake

When I logon to my pc I get the error winlogon.exe Application Error. The instruction at ox7c8ee008 referenced memory at ox5f01032. The memory could not be written.

I am able to boot into safe mode, but cannto figure outhowto correct this problem.
1. I restored back to two days prior.
2. I removed two memory sticks and booted withthe original two sticks. I have had the nmememory for months.
3. I recently tried to update my video driver, so I tried to roll it back. I was unsuccessful and nowIcan't ge a driver to install.

Can you make anything out from my log file? Thank you.

Hi peeps. It's Noi here again.

My CHDSK still takes about an hour and a half on each startup scan and my PC startup takes about five minutes.

I've attached a recent HJT log and would appreciate a person having a look over it and letting me know of any dead links or ones that look suspicious.

Thanks
Noi :)

Would appreciate your analysis & feedback on the below logfile. I have both Norton Utililities & some features of McAfee running (Free from Internet provider) but have watched the registery entries grow expotentially and lost some speed with it and having occasional conflicts and lockups-especially with Netscape.

Thanks in advance/Luc

my computer is very slow in general. Also, on this user name it will not let me play yahoo games (it tells me that I need to update flash and quicktime) but on other user names it works fine. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am having problems with services not starting on my computer. For example DHCP wont start automatically even though it is set automatic. I can't get windows firewall to turn on. When I try to start the service it gives me a error 5: access is denied. Here is my log. Can you help.

I just got a laptop from work, and it's obvious that the previous user didn't do much to protect it. Our tech guy removed some viruses with Symantec, but when it was still running super slow, I checked the TaskManager. The CPU Usage is all over the place, even when few or no programs are running, and the Page File Usage is at about half its limit (618MB/1244M). With a couple programs open right now, it says I have 73 processes, and that number stays around 50 or 60 even with all programs shut down.

Thanks for the help, here's the HJT log:

We are sorry that your topics were overlooked. The new infections that are coming out require us to spend more time on each topic, that and the lack of qualified helpers means that some of the topics will get passed over. Yours was one of those.

The reason for closing these topics is because you would not have been notified, should somebody have replied. Because the threads had gone 20 days without a reply.

Should you return to the forums and still require assistance, please started a thread (topic). After doing so please post in this thread, with a link to this topic, and the new one you started. :wavey:

To help keep your PC clean follow the recommendations in Tony Klein's article So how did I get infected in the first place?
