Dear Experts,

After having been away for a few months, here I am again asking for you kind help….

I have run an AVAST full scan and have found out mu pc to be affected by a sober-AB + sober AB2 infection. I have tried to chest the files but unfortunately did not succeed in doing so for some of them. Please advise on what to do on the bases of the HijackThis report copied below.

Best regards and THANK you,
Pa-234m

Dear Administrator,

Thank your for your message… And no worries for the delay, sure there are people having more serious probs than us.

As per our machine, the synptoms are:

1- The pc becomes very slow, from time to time (RAM saturated even if only one/two process wondows contemporarily opened)

2- The pc gets "stuck" rather often and sometimes shuts down by its self

3- 1/2 "send error message report" pop-ups are displyed per h

4- while checking running processes for anomalies, I saw that a certain "wuauct.exe" was running… But now I do not see it any more. I read a little on the subject but still do not have a clear idea on the nature of this file.

Our "fresh" HijaCkThis log is:

Dear Adminatrator, Thank you for the good news! :-) With the overheating you may have a good point… This pc I have at home has been put togethre by my dad (who has hands-on experinece with machines - his hobby eversince many, many years - but is not a professional) and is a "brother" to another computer of mine (always assebled by my dad) which INDEED had the over-heating problem you mentione (it was fixed, always by ma dad :) by replacing the fan or somethging similar). He had told me that this young-brother from which I am writing DID not present the "heating" problem as the machine elements had been improved in the meanwhile (and thus I have been concentrating all my worries on the software). I will check with him tomorrow (we live in different countries) and, as for today, I admit that your idea seems pretty strong when thinking of the problem I experienced with my other machine a couple of years ago… However, I would like to add a small detail, i.e., with the former machine, the hetaing problem was manifest only through "sudden shut downs" while now, beside the shut-downs (which are much less frequent than with the "old machine), I also have all thses lok-ups + error messages…. If you had to guess, would you think that these three synthoms are related to the same desease? THANK you again, and very much! Best regards, a
Usually a overheating issue will show after you've been using the pc for awhile. It can cause lockups and shutdowns.

Many hardware problems can cause lockups. Hard drive and memory are two big ones.

Have you ever opened the case and used canned air to blow it out? Can you tell if the power supply fan is blowing air out?

Have you run defrag?
