I just noticed after posting this and reopening Firefox that some how it Firefox was no longer the default browser. Is this a likely and expected result of the Combofix or has something else changed it. FYI IE is once again the default.

Also almost any program is free game for deletion as far as I am concerned. I've tried ditching the Kodak thing but it seems protected.
Combofix might have changed.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Q: "Do you know what this folder is?
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\unknown"

A:No sir I do not.

Executing the rest of the steps now.

I would delete that folder myself if I didn't know what the files are in there.

If this scanner says 'OK', it does not necessarily mean the file is clean. There could be a whole new virus on the loose. NEVER EVER rely on one single product only, not even this service, even though it utilizes several products. Therefore, We cannot and will not be held responsible for any damage caused by results presented by this non-profit online service. Also, we are aware of the implications of a setup like this. We are sure this whole thing is by no means scientifically correct, since this is a fully automated service (although manual correction is possible). We are aware, in spite of efforts to proactively counter these, false positives might occur, for example. We do not consider this a very big issue, so please do not e-mail us about it. This is a simple online scan service, not the university of Wichita. Scanning can take a while, since several scanners are being used, plus the fact some scanners use very high levels of (time consuming) heuristics. Scanners used are Linux versions, differences with Windows scanners may or may not occur. Another note: some scanners will only report one virus when scanning archives with multiple pieces of malware. Virus definitions are updated every hour. There is a 15Mb limit per file. Please refrain from uploading tons of hex-edited or repacked variants of the same sample. Please do not ask for viruses uploaded here, unless you work for an anti-virus vendor. They are not for trade. This is a legitimate service, not a VX site. Viruses uploaded here will be distributed to antivirus vendors without exception. Read more about this in our privacy policy. If you do not want your files to be distributed, please do not send them at all. Sponsored by donations (in random order) from: Stormbyte Technologies LLC, The ClamAV project, Steve S., Eric Johansen, Eric Schechter, Paul Bokel, Wilders Security, Wilfried Lilie, Prevx, SonicWALL, Lance Mueller, Ewido networks, HotelScraper.com, people who donated in the past, and some people who prefer to remain anonymous… many thanks to all! Statistics Last file scanned at least one scanner reported something about: SantaScape_v1.2.zip (MD5: fe4daa4787e85521df4cb59408a8de18), detected by: Scanner Malware name AntiVir X ArcaVir X Avast X AVG Antivirus X BitDefender X ClamAV Oversized.Zip Dr.Web X F-Prot Antivirus X F-Secure Anti-Virus X Fortinet X Kaspersky Anti-Virus X NOD32 X Norman Virus Control X VirusBuster X VBA32 X As for the Unknown I went looking for it….It has Uzip.exe PKZIP.exe & Zip.exe in it.

As for the Unknown I went looking for it….It has Uzip.exe PKZIP.exe & Zip.exe in it.

Those should be OK.

Since the fix have you rebooted? If not please do so and tell me if it's running any better.
Did as instructed wiith Services.msc as well as Ptssvc, However I could not find awhost32. Also I noted that the Windows installer was set to manual… is that likely why when I try to uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs console I keep getting the Windows Installer error? Additionally I noticed that the Remote Registry Service has started and is set to Automatic…. Allowing Remote manipulation of my registry… Is this normal and/or advisable. Kazaa, Kodak, does not appear in the ADD/REMOVE CONSOLE. Kodak Easyshare, and Symantec PCANYWHERE Do but I am stopped by the WINDOWS INSTALLER ERROR, previously mentioned. Following the rest of the instructions which of course will involve my closing all windows so will report when done. If I drop off for a bit… It's because of some nasty weather smacking into this flyspeck o' Terrafirma.
Delete this file if listed:(sorry I don't remember if you killed it already)

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named:
c:\rapport.txt

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please post:
C:\rapport.txt
Sorry for the delay.. Had followed instructions and was replying with HJT Log. Also relaying that I did manage to re-allow myself the permissions etc. to delete the folders for KODAK, & Kazaa. Also Nixed something called Global Beach. (which I likely shouldn't have but the hammer felt so good.) Ran ATF-Cleaner, rebooted and then HJT. Was mid reply with essentially this and saying the cursor was a tad laggy but no big deal when hit total freeze. Sending this on my Laptop. Will reboot try again with HJT then follow the contents of your last post. Thanks again for all your help and not in the interest of flattery or bribery I'll certainly be donating to aid this wonderful resource.
