Hi when I started up World of Warcraft this morning I was prompted by the lanucher telling me this was on my computer. I didnt really notice anything wierd going on other than every so often IE would open up when I opened WoW and take me to some random site.
I have followed all of the instructions here http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=73142 and here is my Hijack This Log

Thanks for all help in advance, I took a glance at some other threads and am glad to see there are still people helping out with this stuff :]
Hi Gring0 and welcome to TomCoyote! I need to take some time to look over your Hijack This log to come up with a fix. Please remember that I am an undergraduate which means I need to have my posts to you checked by a teacher or moderator to make sure I'm giving you the proper instructions. This process won't take long and I thank you for your patience. I'll be back with you soon.
Hi Gring0. There is no Anti-Virus software running in your log. It is very important for you to have Anti-Virus software. Please download and install one of the three free products below:
After that's done continue with the instructions below:

Step 1

I would like to see an uninstall list from HijackThis.
  • Run Hijackthis.
  • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
  • Press the Save list button. It will open a Notepad file.
  • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
  • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
Step 2

Please download FixWareout from below:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe

Save the file to your desktop but don't do anything with it yet. We'll work on that in the next post. Please post the uninstall list and a fresh Hijack This log in your next reply.
:)

Good job getting AVG installed Gring0. You won't regret the protection.
:)

Now please click Start—>Run. In the run box please type appwiz.cpl then press enter. In the window that appears please look for the following programs:

Outerinfo
Outerinfo

Highlight each one at a time and click remove. Once that's finished let's continue by using the FixWareout file that we downloaded earlier.

Double click Fixwareout.exe. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, launch Hijack This. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.54 85.255.112.232
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.54 85.255.112.232
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.54 85.255.112.232

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Go to Start > Run, enter cmd and click OK.
  • At the Dos Prompt Screen, type in cd\ and then press .
  • Now type in ipconfig /flushdns and then press . (notice the space after ipconfig)
  • Close the command prompt window.
For the next part you might want to make a note of what the settings currently are in case we need to revert back to those. Do this before making the below changes.

Please go to Start -> Control Panel, and choose Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually Local Area Connection or Dial-up Connection if you are using Dial-up, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio button that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Click OK twice, and restart your computer.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi Gring0. Unfortunately more stuff to do before we can consider you clean. You might want to print these instructions as there are many steps and you won't have internet access for part of the fix. You should really be careful about using any of the file sharing services because in all likelihood this is how you got infected. Bittorrent can be a bad thing. Please be careful. The next time it could be a reformat of your hard drive and I know you wouldn't want that.

Step 1

Please click Start—>Run. In the run box type appwiz.cpl and press enter. In the list that appears search for the following program:

MetaCrawl.WS Toolbar

Please highlight it and click remove. Close the window.

Step 2

Please follow the below instructions:
  • Download this file - combofix.exe
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply. If the log deos not open automatically it can be found in C:\combofix.txt

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
Step 3

Download ATF cleaner from here.

Locate ATF Cleaner.exe and open it.

Under Main select the following:

Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache

*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
