ntoskrnl.exe

Several times a day I get the pop up meassage from my firewall saying ntoskrnl.exe is trying to connect to the internet but sygate has blocked it, I click on dont show this message again but it does come back. Is this a virus of some kind? The pc is working ok with no apparent problems. If a virus how do I delete it, I have run spybot. If not how do I stop the pop up message? it connect to internet? Help appreciated. thanks

Crow suggested that this could be a viral infection, but that we need to proceed with extreme caution. ntoskrnl.exe (NT Kernel & System) is a critical system file that is required for your system to operate.

If you are concerned that it may be a possible viral infection, you can run a virus scan and/or post a HijackThis Log in the HijackThis Logs and Spyware/Malware Removal forum. This may not be a bad idea anyway.
