Hey there, I accidently hit the download button and a virus was downloaded on my computer. The anit-spyware and virus software I have stopped it but I have left the protection tool bar on my internet explorer and shortcuts on my desk top. I know this is bad stuff that I need help removing. Can you help?
If I understand your problem completely all you have to do to remove the toolbar is in internet explorer right click an empty area in the toolbar area and click the toolbar you want to remove, and to remove the shortcuts you just highlight and click the delete button. If I have underestimated your issue please leave a more detailed description of your problem. Francois
Hi and welcome to the Board

I'm Blade and I am going to try to help you with your problem. Please take a note of five things.

  • I will start working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine
  • The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on
    Edit > Select All
    then click on
    Edit > Copy
to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Hi Blade Hi James. There's really nothing more I can help with in this thread, but I hope your computer gets fixed painlessly and easily James. Have a good one you two. François

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a
RiskTool; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between good and malicious use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please post:
C:\rapport.txt
