desktop background problems!

I'm currently at my cousin's house and they want me to fix their computer. The screen's background has a regular pcture, but at the left of the picture is a a big vertical rectangle saying Folder Tasks, Other Places, and Details going vertically. Please help me as soon as you can. Thanks!

Hi, it's been quite some time now and the problem has returned! It's just white and I can't put any pictures as my wallpaper! I tried the link you gave me from Kelly's Korner, but nothing happened. Please help me again.

Yeah I downloaded it from Kelly's Korner but nothing happened.

Here's another thing you can try:

• Right-click the Desktop and click Properties
• On the Desktop tab, click Customize Desktop…
• On the Web tab, make sure there are no items checked in the "Web pages" section
• Click OK twice
