OK, everything else looks correct. We will be fixing the Path environment variable:
  • Click Start, right-click My Computer, click Properties
  • On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables
  • In the "System Variables" section, highlight the "Path" variable
  • Click Edit and replace the current "Variable value" with the following:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin
  • Click OK until you are out of System Properties.
Post the new results to set path once completed.

Edit: You may have to restart after changing the path variable.
ok is this right? Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] © Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. C:\Documents and Settings\Janine>set path Path=C:\WINDOWS\System32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Ja va\jdk1.5.0_06\bin;Pñ‼ PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH C:\Documents and Settings\Janine>
Hmmm, you might want to check it, you should be getting the following:
C:\WINDOWS\System32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin

…without the ";Pñ‼" on the end. Did you copy/paste the path string?
C:\WINDOWS\System32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin That is what i put in system variables section, "Path".. i dont know whats the ";Pñ‼" is?
It probably would, but it does nothing to explain it. Can you see if the value is there if you go to the variable in System Properties? You can actually just post what is there if you want.
sorry i dont know what you mean.. could u possible tell me what i have to copy etc.. thankx ax.. i think this will be over soon, sorry to take up like half ur time =x
Sorry for not being clear, here are some instructions:
  • Click Start, right-click My Computer, click Properties
  • On the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables
  • In the "System Variables" section, highlight the "Path" variable
  • Click Edit and copy the current "Variable value"
  • Click OK until you are out of System Properties.
Post the copied path value here.

Don't worry about how much time it takes, I'd rather have you able to hear sound than hurry through and miss something important that could solve the problem.
That looks like it should be. Go to Start|Run, type sndvol32, and press Enter. Check the sound properties to ensure correct volume and no muting.
says : " windows cannot find 'sndvol32'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search" :S :S
nope its not..

whiel i was there, i noticed that the "s" files (such as sndvol32) only went up to e on the second letter..

then goes straight to the w

its missing all the files starting with t,u,v…
