Hi, i was visiting a webbie when it asked me to install an activeX plugin. it is called video ActiveX object. i use firefox. after installing IE 7 installed by itself and suddenly multiple pop ups invaded my screen, abt 4 at a time.
i have read abt the trojan, but im relatively new to solving problems, as i ahve never encountered an active virus on my com, other than trackers. i have tried using smitrem, and booted in safe mode like it asked and ran the programme. the effects such as resetting of desktop wallpaper and clearing of internet cache and emptied recycle bin did occur, but the popups still came out. i dont know if these are seperate problems but i also have the add or remove blackened section in the window. and used hijackthis to view what was in between. but all i found was my g15 keyboard extension and the ccCommon which is from norton. I'm turning to this method http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showtopic=61697 as it is closely related to what i am experiencing.
that is all i have, it has no malicous effects as of yet, but the popups are irritating :(.
ty in advance!
p.s. i have not found any threads exactly like mine so far. but if there is, i wouldnt mind doing it from a link. thx again!
